Must get best available midfielder with HARDNESS and CLASS, then look at the sudanese bloke, another developing young super ruckmen in the Paddy Ryder mode and a half fit Daniel Wells, Robbie Tarrant and Jesse Smith.

That will do us nicely.

I've just been watching highlights of Rohan and he is something special - if he is left till pick 5 we gota take him - he is super quick and can play tall (ive tried to block out the hair)

This is how I think it'll pan out

Pick 5 - Trengove (will slide)
Pick 6 obtained from West Coast for Hales and pick 69 - Morabito (will slide)
Pick 21 - Rohan Gary (slider)
Pick 37 - Butcher (should slip, poor carnival)
Pick 53 - Jetta (mature age, Liam Anthony-like recruit)

I would have thought Kerr, Cox and Pick 6 for Haley?

Nah, I'm bigger and slower than that. :p

No offence 'utililty' but we have enough of you now.

If there any posters called 'rugged', or 'half back/midfielder', sorry, we've got enough of your type too.

If your name is 'highly skilled midfielder' or 'skilful goalkicking forward' you can step up and we'll consider you.

Someone, possibly _aria_, posted some highlights of Rohan on another thread. He goes OK.:thumbsu:

I do not want Cunnington we do not need more utilities. I would be happy if we ended up with Tapscott who, is apparently the best kick out of the draft.

well cunnington is a very good midfielder and tapscott is a half forward flanker so your post doesnt really make sense

was reading an article the other day and cunningtons coach said he is just as good as bartel and hodge who he has coached previously

And after just watching the highlights of Cunnington, Tapscott and Rohan all are good picks:

Cunnington - Hard at it midfielder, never gives up and loves the tough stuff.....seems to be team orientated too, I watched him in one bit of play put on TWO shepards......he'd be leading that stat at North this year if he was on our list!

Tapscott - Monster kick, great leg on him. Seems to be a half forward that contests hard and has a good football brain. beautiful kick.

Rohan - What more can I say, he's a Ranga! it's about time this ranga got to barrack for one of his own kind, Michael Passmore is so long gone! Seriously he has pace to burn, he might be a bit light but that's only a problem if he get's caught and nobody will catch him.

Can't lose with any of these I think.

Tapscott definitely has a sublime kick. No questioning that.

He is talked about, locally at least, as being one-speed, one-dimensional though.

If we can get him and really work some extra speed and versatility into his game, he could be anything.

yeah tapscott has a great youtube video up at the moment but there will be probably 5-10 guys available at our pick that i would take before him

FFS, the word 'utility' has such negative connotations it's incredible. We're not talking about a Leigh Brown type utility here, Cunnington is a player that can play in the midfield, but also move forward. I would have thought that was a GOOD thing. Ziebell often played through the forward line last year. If we get midfielders with some attacking sense, surely that's not a bad thing.
For what it's worth, i'd say i'm one of Cunnington's biggest fans and behind Scully he'd be my favourite midfielder. (Having said that I have seen pleanty of him this year, and my knowledge of Trengove, Morabito and Lucas is limited to their respective 16/18 carnivals, and a few Peel and East Fremantle videos.
I think if there was ANY midfielder behind Scully that you'd be sure would make it, it'd be Ben. He's so incredibly hard at the ball, uses it well, and wills himself at the contest. He's not flashy like ROhan or Morabito, but I think at this stage, we need to keep filling our midfield with hard, determined in and outside types like Cunnington and Ziebell who are pretty much clones.

exactly ^^^

cunnington is very similar to ziebell and people on here seem to be pretty happy we got him

As we are most likely to be pick 5 or 6, would that net us Butcher or Cunnington?

Richmond's ineptitude in Perth tonight has guaranteed that we can do no worse than pick 5, and if Melbourne win, we get pick 4. Even more unlikely, if Freo win and we lose (heaven forbid ;)) then we get 3.

Either way, I think Scully, Trengrove and Morabito seem to be locked in for the first 3 picks, leaving Butcher and Rohan for 4 and 5, depending on needs of teams above (or should I say below) us. I reckon we're getting a superstar. :thumbsu:

Rohan would be a get. Would like to snag 2 of these gun kids maybe 1 from the West Coast for Hale/Thomas/Gibson.
Rohan+Butcher or 2 new mids ****!

With West Coast flagging the possibility of giving up pick 6 and our list having its bumps, 2 guys like Rohan and Butcher or the highly touted midfielders would add so much to North.
Getting 2 of these guys would be huge.

Bargaining chips/excess baggage

2nd rounder
3rd
4th

Hale---Hamish/Goldy/Petrie
Thomas---Boomer/Cambo/Ross/Adams/Warren/Wright/Garlett
Gibson---McMahon/Harding/Pratt/Firrito/Urq/JWS/Rawlings

Gibbo is shinier than Pratt/Firrito and might attract more interest. Our recent emphasis on defenders and taggers has payed dividends to a degree as now we have gun KP defenders, Greenwood but also are stuck with an abundance of half backs. Half backs are a lot easier to come across and develop than attacking quality midfielders/KP forwards. A trade of 1 half back as part of a deal for an attacking mid/hf/kpf would signal a shift towards a well balanced side finally heading in the right direction (literally).

Harro/Lower could get a look at.

Edwards/Josh Smith/Obst might add a sweetner and if very lucky Jones/Power.

Reasonable amount of coin to throw at a pick.

The Butcher and the Ranga would be marketable and change the attacking balance or any combination of the picks would be better than having average 2nd,3rd,4th round picks and excess rucks/fp's/hb's.:thumbsu:

lol yeah Edwards/Power/Josh Smith/Obst are sure to be great sweeteners...

Oh, and Gibson >>> Rawlings, Urquhart, JWS (... what are the chances he'll play ANY games in 2010?), Pratt and Firrito.

Would not even consider trading him.
