In todays Age Robert Walls has counted down from one to eight of what he thinks are the greats currently playing. His list goes as followes.
  1. Glen Archer
  2. James Hird
  3. Nathan Buckley
  4. Robert Harvey
  5. Chris Grant
  6. David Neitz
  7. Anthony Koudoufidies
  8. Shane Crawford
Who do you think is the better player or are some players missing eg West, Ricciuto, Bell?
If all of those players were at there prime I would surely take Kouta!

Archer-Whimp,the only guy archers picked on over 2 foot nothing is carey. And lets just say archer wouldn't have shinbones if Carey started up.

Hird- Good player over his career. Silent assasin imo. Can rack the 15 possies a quarter without you knowing the margin in essendons favour is ever increasing.

Buckley- Without those hamstrings would've been argubly the best of all time. I'd say over there careers best outta the list.

Harvey-Serviceable.

Grant-Hmm, would much rather Teague on the list.

Neitz-Good FF. Kicks a bag of 5 from time to time. More than serviceable. IMO not a captain.

Kouta- His best is unmatchable in any code of football. Simply the best. Damn you Johnson & Knights!

Crawford- Love his work on the footyshow, him and fev just crack me up!

I voted Kouta criteria being at his prime.
If it was over there careers Buckley.

Going, Going, GONE

He's missing players that haven't played in Victoria for the majority of their careers.
Surely the list was only taken from Victorian teams? Ricciuto should make that list any day of the week.
I think it was taken from players who seemed most likely to retire at the end of the season.

Archer a whimp?

Kouta the best ever?

Teague over Grant?

Fuking clueless.

Rubbish post.
Archer a whimp, yes! picks on the lil midfielders, last time i saw him stand up to sandliands? Definently shinboner spirit!
Kouta at his best, dominating is the best in history. Over his career his knee injury completely ruined him.
JOKE

I'm guessing you were born post 2000.

Watch how he played during the 90's.

Regularly towelled blokes twice his size, Richo for starters.

Please tell me you didn't say that. Archer has been one of the toughest AFL players in the past 20 years without doubt. Question his skill, ability, fairness, greatness whatever one thing you can't doubt is his toughness.

I doubt that Archer has been better than Buckley. Walls creamed himself over how Archer has won all those flags and played in those finals but look at the team he had. Buckley in comparison had a much weaker team. I find it weird that Archer never won a b&f, I understand why, hes never really stood out but always been a star, but not even one?

And BTW Richo > Neitz.

I started getting hooked on footy 99-2000. Since watching the gutless whimp play it's just a joke against the Kangas. The times you see him run over the smaller players, cheap hit the smaller players outnumbers the times he runs through the bigger ones. The best example of this was against richmond last year. Cheap hit Simmo in the face then run like a little girl!

Koutas not the best great in the game, i'd vote buckley. All of those men at there prime kouta completely towled them up.

Your arguments are a complete joke, archers a whimp, kouta at his best is the best the games ever seen.

Sorry if you completely disagree but i see toughness as going in hard for the ball. Laying the bump on whoevers in your way (not just the smaller players) and standing up for your teammates.

Archers fairness is a joke. Simply cheapshots are the only shots he gets against the tougher players.

If toughness is getting the hard ball than Archer is tough, he's one of the best at extracting the contested ball. Archer is renowned for standing up for his team-mates and bumping whoever is in the way.

What is with Carlton supporters? They'll say anything to pump up their own players even if it means blatantly lying.

Man you couldn't get a clue if you did a clue mating dance during the clue mating season.

He's been voted 7 times the games most courageous player by his peers.

That's the most by anyone EVER in the comp.

You really are a git.

It's not hard to run through midfielders when your built like a brick. Never seen him do the same to a ruckman.

He's reeling you in.

Not even FU would say Archer was a whimp. The most anti-Archer type wouldn't even say that.

And its a big one alright....

I dont feel the need nor do i have the time to even ponder where this bloke is coming from...

FWIW, the whole article was about players likely to RETIRE.

5.Neitz
6.Grant
7.Kouta
8.Archer
This wouldn't be my exact order but in general pretty close.

1 & 2 interchangeable
3 & 4 spot on
5 & 6 interchangeable
7 & 8 interchangeable

Grouped in pairs though, I totally agree. If that makes sense.

I could being a blues fan go on about Kouta being a freak in his prime for hours on end, but what about Chris Grant, was one of the best CHF of the 90's and if he played for a big club would be considered one of the greats.

Where is Vossy? He is better than Most of the Players on your poll.
You's suck!
Do you have trouble reading?

It is a list of players who are still playing, Voss has retired, do you see the reasons now?

Thought you might have figured that out when there was no Ablett, Carey, Reynolds Dyer etc.
