Well i wouldnt say the best midfield in the AFL but you would be up there in the top 5.
I have no doubts that the Blues can make top 8 this yr. If you get your backline settled in the first few rds, who knows what you guys can achieve.
 
Even after watching that win against the Bombers yesterday, we should not get ahead of ourselves.There are still many areas that we need to improve upon to become a top 8 team. Lets just concentrate on round 1

I'm on board too Fev. Top 8 is the minimum expectation when you have a player like Fev in top flight and the best midfield in the AFL.

I think he's very pumped for the year! When you hear his tone and see his face, plus the way Ratts goes in to bat for him. I get the feeling he's gonna have a big one:thumbsu:

There are still lots of if's and but's as to whether we can make the finals, but, you have to remember that last year we finished 15th, so lets not get ahead of ourselves.
'If' our backline can start to function, 'if' our new midfield work and 'if' Fev and the rest of the forward line fire then i think that we could be a descent shot at the finals.
 
Im really only concerned about how we are going to beat Geelong.

The rest....pppppffffft!!

Oh, and I couldn't give a stuff what supporters from other clubs think of my confidence.

As warranted (albeit unnecessary) as your concerns may be, would you rather the players come into the season believing that they can make finals and working towards that goal with a 'won't settle for any less' attitude or should they be focused on our ladder positions of the past 5 years and make sure not to getting ahead of themselves???

I'm really confident that we'll make the 8 this year and until that is no longer a possibility I'll stick with it thanks. Moreover, I am not in the slightest worried that this confidence of mine might be putting too much pressure on our precious young stars :p
 
Interesting call by Fevola. Honestly, I don't think we are able to make the finals this season, but when a guy in the leadership group comes out and has an expectation of making the top 8, it really plays games with you. I have no idea what to expect this year anymore!
 
i would expect nothing else to come out of the mouth of someone from the club, every year you strive for finals, you never think otherwise no matter how far fetched it might seem, you never come out and say were not going to make finals this year, how do you think us supporters and the sponsors would feel about that, let alone the opposition, the opposition would love to hear that. I say well done fev, that mindset is exactly what you and your teamates need, push yourselves to be the best you can be and you will finish the season/career with less regrets if any. I would rather listen to fev talk about finals than listen to houlahan telling everybody to settle down and not expect too much for the year, although some supporters need to be told to settle down abit, you don't do it through the media...

Yeah, and especially a guy whos now in the leadership group. Hopefully this positivity will permeate through the ranks of the players.

No doubt that with Judd and Stevens coming to the team fully fit this year, most of our players truly believe that the 8 is a possibility (even if our supporters are being cautiously optimitic)

8-10 wins for mine.

If you went to every player in every leadership group at every club you'd get the same answer........whether it's realistic or not is besdie the point.
