How do you think the ladder will stand at the end of the season, below is my prediction of how the ladder will stand.

1. Essendon
2. North Melbourne
3. Carlton
4. West Coast
5. Melbourne
6. Richmond
7. Hawthorn
8. Western Bulldogs

I think Sydney, Adelaide and Geelong will just miss out

You forgot collingwood ?

Seriously, Put Essendon in at number 1 and Power and saints at 15 and 16 (no particular order)

The rest could all fill ANY one of the positions 2 to 8. eg Adelaide could come second (even though they never have yet)

Brisbane will make the 8 easily, they will win like 9 out of their last 10/11 games, Richmond will die in the arse though.

What is it with you Victorian teams? You've been overestimating us since 94! I'm flattered, but really?
Do we scare you or something? Are we an unknown quantity? I just don't get it. A lot of the so-called footy experts and journos are the same.
We certainly will not finish fourth. I'd like to see it, but sadly it won't happen without a lot of luck, or intervention from above (Wayne or the other bloke, either will do).
If we make the eight, it'll be in 6th to 8th... (again)

*do you think Freo will improve?

*I think Collingwood are in for a tough couple of months, but are still possible for the 5-8th positions.

1. Essendon - Der!?!?!!
2. Carlton - Grand Finalists last year, recruited experience and will be close again.
3. Melbourne - The surprise packet of the year, but won't go much further once they hit the finals.
4. Hawthorn - Provided they keep their big players on the park at the same time.
5. Richmond - Always better without Richo, remember 1995?
6. Brisbane - A certainty given all their home games at the end of the season.
7. Kangaroos - not quite as dominant any more, have the experience to trouble higher sides, similar to 1997 after they won the flag in 1996.
8. Bulldogs - On the way out and this will be their final year for a while in the finals. Out in the first game.

Followed by:
West Coast - can't play away from home, and will surely lose one or two at home to just miss out.
Geelong - better than last year, but still relys on forward line who can't take a mark, hope I'm wrong.
Collingwood - similar position to Geelong last year in winning the first five then falling away, maybe a chance.
Fremantle - The big improver, look out for them in 2001.
Adelaide - Only average.
Sydney - The big disappointment, will struggle in the next few years.
StKilda - bad start will cost them, not as bad as peole think. Big statement, will beat Carlton this week.
Port Adelaide - need another forward to help out Tredrea, and he has to learn to kick straight once he gets it, will still beat teams when they aren't expected to and will go down in History as one of the better wooden spooners of all time. Will improve in 2001.

Thoughts?????

I don't think the Western Bulldogs will make it. I do not agree about North coming seventh,
i think they are still on of the top teams in the competition. I also think even though i am a Hawthorn supporter that they will probably not finish as high as fourth.

Gocatsgo, you must be joking, or a joke, one of the two.

Kangaroos 7th please.

That's a bit like Danny Frawley running onto the ground yelling "Too Slow, Too Old", just very dumb.

Never unestimate those Kangaroos.

I'm not underestimating them, I just don't think they are quite up to the standard of Essendon, Carlton, Melbourne, Richmond, etc etc.

They might have won it last year, but that was because Carlton beat Essendon, there is no-way they would have beaten Essendon in the GF. Look at this years pre-season.

They are a 1 man team, regardless of what you say and he and he only has been the reason they have been so successful. Take Carey out and they go to water, look at the stats.

Just about spot on with the Swans there gocatsgo - goddam it

Now, gocatsgo, I think you might be a little off the mark when saying that North are not up to the standard of Richmond. Does that mean you think Richmond are a better chance of winning the flag than North?

As far as I'm concerned there is only one club that can stop Essendon from winning the flag (and that seems very unlikely at the minute) and it's North.

The eagles are a very well respected football club in Victoria. I have heard the experts refer to Westcoast as the most professional unit in the AFL.

Yes the eagles were overestimated after 94' but only a little bit. They should still make the final six I think. Despite losing to sydney, I don't think many more teams will come close to beating them at home.
Also, they can't keep on losing away games forever, I think they will take out the pathetic pies at CS. (Go eagles)

Yes, I think Richmond are better than North!

I have seen both teams play this year against Geelong and there was absolutely no doubt that Richmond were a far supperior team to North (On the days I saw)If it wasn't for Carey at centre half-back against Geelong, It would have been a Geelong massacre, we were so much better than them it was not funny.

Richmond on the other hand never gave us a chance to even get into the game and since then there form has been nothing short of exceptional (although Collingwood aren't much) they just need to improve their disipline on and off the field and they will be fighting for a top 4 spot.
