The Top End Taipans are proud to announce the recruitment of South Australian born and raised, James Aish. Aish was hot property in the 2014 BFFL National Draft catching the eyes of many BFFL clubs. The Taipans had their eyes set on one man and one man only for their first pick in the draft. Aish was finally drafted by the Taipans with pick 9 in the 2014 BFFL National Draft.

However things didn't necessarily go to plan. It was revealed that even though the Taipans turned off auto-pick, the Ultimate Footy Draft Room didn't think so. Luckily enough for the Taipans, Aish was at the top of their list and ended up being auto-selected at the right club.

BFFL National Draft Pick #23 - Danny Stanley

The Top End Taipans would like to welcome Danny Stanley to the club for 2014. The Taipans have picked the Gold Coast midfielder, Danny Stanley with pick 23 in the 2014 BFFL National Draft. Coming off of what probably was his best season in 2013, the Taipans didn't hesitate to take the midfielder with their 2nd pick in the draft.

Top End Taipans senior coach, Smartys Power had this to say:

"There were plenty of excellent first year players we could have easily selected ahead of Danny, but the numbers are there he's proven he could have possibly been one of Gold Coast's elite midfielders. He was a steal at pick 23."

BFFL National Draft Pick #37 - Jarman Impey

The Top End Taipans are happy to announce the signing of Jarman Impey, after he was selected with the 37th pick in the 2014 BFFL Draft. Tipped by many of his team mates to make his debut in Round 1, there was no looking past this young utility.

He has the temperament to play both ends of the ground which is something that the Taipans were desperately looking for. This is why this young gun was selected with only the club's third pick in this years draft.

With Pick 51 in the 2014 BFFL Draft, The Top End Taipans select Ben Stratton. Stratton is now a proven defender in the AFL, playing all 25 games for Hawthorn last year as well as being a pivotal member of their premiership side. The Taipans would like to welcome Ben Stratton to the club.

Coach, Smartys Power had this to say:

"He's played all 25 games for Hawthorn last year including the Grand Final. He has shown that he can match it with just about any forward. He will be very handy for our side. If he isn't a lock in for our best 22 right now, you can almost guarantee he will be at some stage. His improvement has been phenomenal and we believe he will improve much more than what he did last year."

The Top End Taipans are excited to announce the official signings of Travis Boak and Michael Jamison for the 2014 season. Boak and Jamison come to the club through a trade between the Nuriootpa Nancyboys. However, it did cost the club the #9 pick in the 2014 Pre-Season Draft, Nathan Jones and promising youngster Jonathan O'Rourke.

The Taipans would like to thank Jones and O'Rourke for the contributions to the club.

The Top End Taipans officially delist Clinton Jones and Jared Petrenko. We would like to thank both Clinton and Jared for their contributions to the Taipans and we wish them all the best for the future.

MEDIA: Taipans Trade Update

After completion of a recent trade, the Top End Taipans would like to welcome Jack Crisp to the club. Jack comes to the Taipans after a deal made with the 2014 Premiers, the LWS short people. As well as the addition of Crisp, a swap of 2nd round picks were also made during this trade. The Taipans 2nd round pick will now be pick 28 instead of their given pick of pick 20.

The short people thank Jack Crisp for his loyal service, particularly towards the end of 2014 where a run of injuries had us relying on him as a key member of the starting side. However it was felt he would lack opportunities in 2015 with a number of big names including Beams and Ward returning, plus the addition of Ben Cunnington. We're hopeful he will get far more opportunities at his new club.

Taipans off the shaky start in 2015

After a couple of team changes over the off-season, Top End Taipans couldn't really be blamed for thinking that his starting line up was all good to go for round 1. Boy was he wrong. Without realising, the Taipans would go into round 1 agains the DD Honey Badgers with 8 players not playing and one less player selected on the field. You heard me correctly. EIGHT! This resulted in a 7-2 loss to start the season.

If you thought that was a bit of a utensil up, have a listen to what happened to the Taipans coach the very next week. After noticing the error during the round 1 match-up, Power was left embarrassed as he forgot to fix his errors for his round 2 match against the Coral Bay Cobras. This also resulted in a 7-2 loss.

Power finally edited his line up for the round 3 game against the struggling, West Legends. And what do you know? They won. A comfortable 8-1 win to kick start the year for the Taipans.

Round 4 was a different story altogether. Having a capable team, the Taipans would slip to their 3rd loss of the season to the Campsie Bluedogs. Once again 7-2.

The Taipans, one of the stronger teams over the course of this league, has gotten off to a rough start in 2015 and as to do something quick to bounce back.
