It certainly gets you thinking about all the great champions we've had in that decade. I'll give my top ten a go:

1. Wayne Carey
2. Wayne Schwass
3. Anthony Stevens
4. Michael Martyn
5. Mark Roberts
6. Glenn Archer
7. Corey McKernan
8. David King
9. Craig Sholl
10. John Blakey

I can't believe none of you guys have put The Fridge in amongst your Top Ten. He was an important part of our machine, and played a huge part in our success, and in my opinion, it's what we need today - another Mark Roberts.

Johnny Longmire I left out - because in the Pagan years, he had those two major knee injuries, and really wasn't the same when he came back.

Fridge was close to top ten... but I felt his biggest strength was the way Pagan made the opposition continually play the wrong type of player on him... But then I will also never forget the game against west coast at PP where Roberts dragged Jackovich to the wing all day... a very smart footballer... or just knew how to carry out instructions... you make the decision...

These are not in order of importance.
That would be too taxing on the brain cells which hurt too much already.

Carey
Stevens
Longmire
Martyn
McKernan
Blakey
Archer
King
Scholl
Rock

Pipped at the post ....Roberts , Bell , Fairley, Crocker

Top Roos of '90's and 'My North team'

Considering the 90's ....not 2000-01

1. Wayne Carey
2. Corey McKernan
3. Anthony Stevens
4. Mick Martyn
5. Glenn Archer
6. Peter Bell
7. David King
8. Wayne Schwass
9. Craig Sholl
10. John Longmire (injuries hurt his ranking)

If I had to list my team (based on seeing players at thier best)

B. Pickett Martyn D.Crocker
HB Law Glendinning Archer
C Greig German Schwass
HF P.Krakouer Carey Schimmelbusch
F Hodgeman Longmire Blight
R Dempsey Stevens J.Krakouer
I/C Bell D.King McKernan C.Sholl
Emg. M.Larkin B.Allison M.Roberts

Tough choice naming the team with many others just sqeezed out
K.Greig won his B & F in 1980, saw North from '79 onwards on a weekly basis.

Fridge always knew how to position himself against opponents, and read the movement of the ball better than any other player I've seen. His peripheral vision was fantastic too, and his ability to spot other guys running past, and fire out a pass was superb.
Although his skills don't have him mentioned in the same breath as Carey, Larkin, Schimma, Archer etc, I think he is underestimated in this area because his disposal was as good as anyone's - long or short. Very underrated player, and it's unfortunate that many people who support other clubs think of him as that fat bloke who used to play for the Bears. He was so much better than that when he came to North Melbourne.

My top 10 :

1. Carey
2. Martyn
3. Stevens
4. Schwass
5. Archer
6. King
7. Roberts
8. Longmire
9. McKernan
10. Fairley

Just missed out : Sholl, R.Smith, Laidley, Ishchenko, Crocker, Allison.
