Top Up Players

AFL seriously considering setting up topup players for the season after seeing what is happening with AFLW and cancellations of games.
I assume we'd look first to our VFL listed players but no doubt there will be an auction. The QLD comp has been doing this for years... Seems to work OK, but finals gets messy imo.

How it would work is tricky. Do you get to sign up e.g. 10 players, or is it a free for all first in best dressed. And can a player play for one club one game then another later?

I am sure they would be tied to one team, and number of players for each team would not have been decided as it is still on the 'possible scenario' table.
Then another issue is can a topup only be brought in for Covid players or for any list shortage - surely the former.

You'd think it would be this way. But who knows?

I'd try getting very recent former players.ie:Garthwaite/Naish etc.Least they know our system.
