Does anyone want to rate the VFL top up players?

I have been watching a few of them with interest lately and one named Jackson bolton has really looked good. A hard working midfielder, however he went off late Saturday with a shoulder injury from the reports i heard.

What about the other players....any talent there?

There are some very talented top up players, however, they are at the age where they've most likely missed the boat as far as an AFL selection is concerned.

Ego last year was the exception, but most are around the 21/22 age - some even older - and if they haven't caught the eyes of any recruiters yet, they won't make an AFL list.

Surfie and Bolts look good, but its pretty understandable why neither have been picked on an AFL list. Surfie is an athlete and bolts cannot kick.
Surfie being who sorry?

Jackson Bolton has been on our VFL list for one reason, and one reason only. Has little to do with his football ability.

He's actually got a bit of talent, but certainly isn't up to AFL standard, not even close to it.

It's a shame James Byrne never got another chance. He's tougher and more talented than many AFL footballers, including a few on our list.

No, moreso his close friendship with a couple of brothers on our senior list.

Keep them happy, keep them happy.
I see, bit of a shame though would be good to see someone who really deserves it get a go.
As long as Gaz and Nath are happy, i'm happy.

He deserves to be there in his own right. The club is an organisation and would not lower thmeselves to have a person there the doesnt deserve to be. He shows great talent and discipline.

Sorry mate, but that's grade A bullplop.

Jackson has become a decent enough player, but he was given the gig originally because he was Gary's best mate and the club wanted to do anything to make Gary happy.

Thats absolute crap mate. If jackson was only there to comfort gary how come to the club has kept his as a top up player for this long. Gary is clearly settled at the club and doesnt need childhood friends there to make him feel at home. You have this one wrong.

Did you miss the part where i said he's 'become a decent enough player'?

You can believe the club is as pure as the driven snow if you like, but it's incredibly naive.
