I've just heard that Begley "did his thumb" at training and is being replaced by Torney. Not a bad in for us but bad luck for Begley if true.
Also the weather here is looking s/h for tomorrow. Not a day for the talls!

Yeah, Begley did his injury against the Pies & was a big loss when he went off & will be for this week. However, JT should have been picked in the 1st place!

Mystery why we went small in good conditions under the roof at the Dome last weel, but are going tall this week in the wet against the Hawks...

Maybe we are adopting his tank strategy.

afl.com.au says Begley's thumb isn't an issue, and he is missing the match due to groin soreness.

The thumb injury Begley ended up with in the match VS Collingwood apparently had nothing to do with his withdrawal. It was actually his groin which is troubled him and not seen him train for most of the week.

Wayne Carey missed training with a bit of general soreness from last week. (Carey always pulls up lame after playing at Telstra Dome because of the surface there) If Carey doesn't pull up for tomorrows match then Fergus Watts, who has been flown to Melbourne as the Crows emergency will make his debut in Carey's absence.

By the looks of our line up with only Stevens and Carey (Watts) being our talls forwards, I reckon the rain couldn't come at a better time for us, especially with Everitt, Thompson and HOlland in the Hawks forward line.

PLEASE RAIN IN MELBOURNE TOMORROW PLEASE!!!!!!!

Its not a thumb. Thumb is fine and he would have played with it. What happened is that he dislocated the thumb and they put it back in . No dramas.

He is not playing because of the groin injury that he has been carrying for a month now. He had the scans yesterday. I fear it might be OP:(

Bad luck about Begley but good that Torney can get in and have a go, I like him as a player and gives our backline a bit more strength;)
I think he's a great workhorse for the AFC.
My only concern is with Massie, Torney, and Bassett in defence, we are not quick and suseptible to quick forwards, or forwrd delivery from a dominant opposition midfield.

If our midfield is on top, doesn't become as big an issue.

Well spotted. That was one ingredient that Begley added to the defence - pace.

Having said that. I'm delighted the Hawks dropped Mark Williams - not the Choco variety - as he was the one quick forward who could have hurt us without Begley.

Begley really took on the role that Hart normally plays, providing that run from defense.
Hart and Smart provided the run last season, Massie and Torney, more the stay at home type defenders.
Without Hart and Smart we just simply became very stagnant out of defense.

Mcgregors not an attacking type, which has meant the introduction of Hentschell and Begley has, and will provide some much needed ru out of defense.
