Who was the toughest player you ever saw.
I dont mean dickheads and kinghit merchants, I mean blokes who put their bodies on the line and always ran straight at the footy.
For me its Francis Bourke. Never took a snipe, and always wore a crunch-but watch out next time you went for the ball 'cos Francis would be running full-pelt from the other direction.

He He He-Did he play in the premiership side? If so you could start a new thread about the worst premiership players.( Scott Howell for mine)

Never played in a premiership side though

Sure about that?
Unless my memory has completely faded, you might want to watch the 93 GF again to see Michael Long absolutely humiliate him!
No disrespect to the Blues, but what the hell were you thinking letting a ******* like that ever get a game in the Seniors (let alone a GF!!!)????????????????

God have I heard enough about that bloody match up! He actually wasn't such a bad player for us in 92 - but he was a terrible tagger really. But he never never never never never never played in a premierhip side for us - thank god! I am absolutely certain that he didn't. Which side are you thinking of? 95 or 87?

Leigh Matthews (Took as much as he gave and never complained - take note Wayne Campbell)

Don Scott (Not terribly skilled, and not tall, but mixed it with the best and never gave an inch)

Dermott Brererton (Enough has already been said - refer L Matthews comments)

I think I qualify for at least honorary Hawthorn membership after this....
:D

Bob Skilton (Took hits week after week and always played the ball)
Gary Wilson (Ditto)

Oops, i'm dumb. It says the toughest player YOU have ever seen.

I guess i'd have to say Burke, Archer and Martyn. Inspiration from Darky ;).

cik

localyokel specified not dickheads or king hit merchants, teh great Bob Skilton is the only one you mentioned that doesn't come under those categories.

CIK........I'm speechless! Welcome aboard as an honarary Hawk. LOL

Matthews, the amount he copped was half what he dished out (though he did dish out quite a bit)!

Ayres and Kelly a close (equal) 2nd.

Going around now, top three. Archer, Ricciuto. and J.Johnson.

So we have now discovered who CIK's new team is now the Roos are losing.
Don't get to excited Bubba, he will drop the Hawks as soon as they start losing like the Roos.

Oh, Ugly one. That's twice you are wrong in a very short space of time.
Please explain to me how Gary Wilson was either a dickhead or a king-hit merchant. I also challenge you to support that statement with regard to Don Scott. You obviously never saw them play or don't know what you are talking about.Matthews & Brereton both handed out plenty, but rarely a king-hit (Bruns was a major exception)

As for my allegiances, you mistake an ability to recognise players from other than my own team. Something you Essendon supporters cannot do it seems. It's called being evenhanded. Look it up.
