Changing fortunes for the Bulldogs and Demons
Round 8 Ponderings - Paul Gough

At the start of the season it's a fair bet most footy fans had Melbourne inside the top eight and the Bulldogs outside and that is where they sit after eight rounds of the 2005 season.
But could they be about to change places with the Demons looking increasingly vulnerable and the Bulldogs really on the improve under new coach Rodney Eade?
The Demons were humiliated by lowly Hawthorn this weekend but still look well-placed at five wins and three losses with Brad Miller to serve only one more week of a suspension and with David Neitz and Cameron Bruce soon set to return from injury.
But while those three will strengthen the attack, it has been midfield and in defence where the Demons have looked vulnerable at times this season.
And considering that the Demons not only face the daunting task of taking on Carlton in the Blues' final ever match at Optus Oval next week but also still have to face the much-improved Richmond, the Kangaroos in Canberra, league leaders West Coast, St Kilda as well as travel to Brisbane, Geelong, Port Adelaide, Fremantle and Adelaide, then perhaps the Demons aren't the finals certainties they appear to be...
Do you agree with this?
We have a few must win games coming up that may define the rest of the season, drop the next few and we are back fighting for a spot in the 8. Win the next few and we are looking for a top 4 birth.
Hope Whelan, Neitz and Bruce are back for next weeks game against the Blues as they will be hoping to win their last game at Optus, real danger game for us IMO.
Thoughts?
