Toughest player to pull on a pair of boots was a guy named Alan Woodman
who played a heap of reserve games for Geelong, quit the VFL when he was about 26 and went onto captain/coach several country teams.
He had a similar physique to todays professional footballer and would play just as hard- played with a broken jaw for three plus quarters for Grovedale against St.Albans in the early eighties and then booked himself into hospital after the game to have it wired up
Anyone playing with or against him in the GFL at the time would remember Alan- he trained the boys hard and himself harder.
