The club has acknowledged the closing of the site and the work of Vi and Mark.

TPFP closure

It is good that they have done that. As the club has acknowledged, Vi and Mark also ran the PAMFC site when it was stand alone site. The thing about TPFP is that it was a site for Port supporters and run by Port supporters. That did not mean that supporters from other clubs were not welcome but the site had a strong Alberton connection. It also acted as the information point for the Outer army and PAFCCS, these were direct links to the PAFC supporter base. Maybe that also exists on this site?

One thing about websites, people can and do get sued for defamatory comments posted on websites and for breach of copyright. That is why this site has moderators. In TPFP's case Vi did a lot of the moderation and usually those people who were banned were banned for a reason. Personally I have nothing but admiration for the work that Vi and Mark did and it would appear that the Port Adelaide Football Club shares that view.

But we all move on and I will check this site out and if it is OK I will stay if not well I might still stay.

Wonder if we will still hear from Fereeo ? Maybe he posts on the Fremantle boards?

Thanks for the feedback. I've been on this site for a dozen years now, and a moderator for a few more years than I care to remember. I enjoy the level of conversation here and the knowledge and information imparted by many posters. We are continuing to build a relationship with the club to the mutual benefit of both.

I hope you will find this a quality site for your football discussion, stay on and contribute.

As far as legal issues go, as moderators we are reminded by site admins we are not lawyers so generally do not moderate on the basis of legal implications but rather according to the site rules. The possibility of legal threats exist but these are kicked upstairs for dealing. We do have a couple of rules as a result, including linking to excerpts from online articles.

Haha I remember that person, iirc it was grosh147 who was the most skeptical of that story, ahh good times :p

As for Powerup & a few other outspoken individuals well I didn't often venture into the full on Magpies discussions or serious topics for that reason, which is probably why I saw TPFP in a better light than those who left for those reasons.

I have been to the part of France where that bloke said he lived ( for a WW 1 site tour ), including some of the more remote areas, all of which had electricity and flush toilets.

It is not far from the German border. and modern cities like Strasbourg and Nuremburg.

For someone to say he was digging a septic tank in 2010 was almost certainly a friut tingle trying to take the p*ss about ` what had happened to Port Adelaide? ', and when he was asked for more information he bailed out.

Yeah, he was trying to inform us that septic tanks were new technology in France..a developed nation...like he was living in a backwoods third world country

There are plenty of usernames that keep popping up in my memory, Powerage is one of them. So what was your username over their Ebert80? Forgive me if you have already stated it

One of my last posts on TPFP involved Powerage and he said he will catch up with me, 1954 and matrix along with a couple of other good friends next Sat at the corporate function at Alberton oval so if he hasn't made the move here to BF I will certainly suggest he should.:)

Have added a signature that states my name here and what it was at TPFP.

Maybe all those that have come across under new names could do the same to make it easier to identify them. Not you though Groshy, we all know what a cane toad is:p
That's a pretty good idea because I'm also having a little trouble identifying a few of the new usernames.

That would be great, look forward to catching up with him about the cricket cheers TP.

I know Phil too so if I see him at Alberton Oval on Saturday I will mention BF to him as well as anyone else we know (and there's numerous of them). I am already missing the huge selection of emoticons TPFP had - can more be added here mods? I am unsure how new ones got added to TPFP (I think users could submit new ones to Vi) but there sure were some brilliant ones.:)

Cheers Creighton not sure if you know Cbeer but we were having a convo about me looking into a new PC the day before the site shut down so I've lost the info he posted, would like to chat with him also if you can get him over.

Emoticons are another thing Big Footy lacks the tongue in cheek & sarcastic smiley isn't the best, Werner will miss the beer one & I'll miss the stir the pot one. I got the Go Australia one put in with the regulars there.

Even you were banned? Now I feel better (but not about being indirectly responsible, no really :p)

I am absolutely amazed that REH was banned from TPFP, I can't recall him ever posting anything remotely offensive, or even contoversial.

I was never banned from the site, but probably should have been when I threatened to stretch the bloke with the giraffe avatars neck and insert it in another part of his anatomy ( or die trying lol ).

I remember receiving at least 20 U2U's from posters who wanted to do the same thing, so I guess that may have saved me.

RussellEbertHandball is one of the great posters and a terrific person too. And no I don't have a commercial agreement with him. ;)
