I have been a lurker on this site for a while now. Not sure why I didn't register as Powerage but those who contributed to the Soccer Forum will understand this pseudonym.

There are too many Cow/Derby/Leicester posters, especially after the weekends results, for me to contribute to the dedicated soccer forum on this site so if there is one within the Port site please point me in the right direction

Like others have said, I am disappointed that TPFP has closed and saddened to hear of the toll it has taken on Vi. I wish her djay and mark all the best.

Now all I need to do is find my avatar (I did originally find it on Big Footy - there was a thread about pics/clubs)

Isn't Garibaldi a salami? Hope you find your avatar GR, then we can remember you better :)

Possibly wrong thread but are we going to see anything more from the Essendon debacle ? I understand a number of players were named today ? Are the AFL/ ASADA serious or have we seen the mini soap opera play its last show ?

Edit> As someone with fairly strong family ties to Essendon, I am pretty peeved at both the bullshit they pulled along with how the AFL have handled it.

proman good to see you have joined the mass migration.

Welcome Powerage there was a link posted a few pages back about how to change your nickname if you'd like to, pretty sure it'd still be available.

The regulars are almost all here now which is great, just need Creighton to get Phil on board & there are a few others like Spinifex it'd be good to catch up with.

As for a soccer thread for just us Port people I mentioned the idea & might start one up unless there's already a thread for it, it will be on the same board as this one the Black Diamond board.

Long time reader and infrequent poster on TPFP. Loved the content and discussion on the site, it was a sad notice to read when I logged on today. I used to check out big footy to read a less biased opinion on Port Adelaide topics. I guess this will be my new home for browsing and infrequent posting. Thanks to the owners and moderators of TPFP for all their hard work and dedication. You deserve recognition from the club!

So how do we create a signature for my profile?

Cheers

Thanks REH

I can't see 'Signature' when I go to the dropbox under my name. Is it because of the status of my BigFooty membership as I just signed up today?
Or am I looking in the wrong spot?

Cheers Seany, think I will stick with the Garibaldi tag for now.

Welcome to all the TPFP'ers coming over.

I was on TPFP well before i discovered Big Footy and used to post very regularly over there. It was my main stay when it came to online forums. Back in about 2007 i discovered Big Footy and posted on both for a while. Eventually i spent more time here and less time on TPFP until i pretty much stopped posting on TPFP all together.

Every now and then i would pop over to TPFP and just have a quick look but never stayed. Big Footy has been my sole source of Port discussion for a while along with facebook.

I was banned once from TPFP for taking an article from there and posting it over here but after a bit of begging and apologising, Vi unbanned me.

I generally found the posters over there of great quality (mostly) but found the moderation a bit too much but the main reason i liked this forum more was it was much easier to navigate and easier on the eye. Im lazy and i love being taken to the last post i read in a thread.. something that was a bit more difficult on TPFP.

I understand the stresses running a forum based website. I ran a 10,000 member forum based website for about 5 years in the early-mid 2000s called Rave Adelaide (rave/dance music based forum) and its seriously full on and life consuming so lots of props go to Vi and Mark for doing it for so long. Its nice they left a nice parting message on their forum... which is something i didnt do.. i replaced the home page of our forum with Goatse (dont google it... there.. i warned you)

Sad to see it close down but not surprising.

Its awesome to see alot of the regulars over there finding a new home over here. Remember guys.. many of the posters here were posters over there too. I just personally found Big Footy better overall than TPFP so im sure you will all love it over here too.

Oh and i know Cbeer.. i will flick him an email and ask him to come over and say hi

One of the vast differences with BF over TPFP is that (it seems to me) that discussion about subjects not directly relating to the PAFC get lumped in with the general AFL forum.

Having of course established all these internet acquaintances at TPFP, even if I didn't post on a non-PAFC related subject I would almost always read what my fellow posters said as I was interested in their opinion.

Case in point, the Demetriou resignation today. I would much rather discuss or read about that with people who would share a by and large, similar opinion. That thread on the main page as I type is already 18 pages. I simply don't have time to go through all that, particularly with all the chest beating that goes on there. It feels kind of 'diluted' to me. Previously, I always had the option of coming over to BF (which I did do) to read more on other clubs/general issues when I had the time. Personally, I'd rather stick to discussing a lot of these subjects with just Port supporters/people I'm familiar with and I don't have time to read the hundreds of posts by people I don't know and would rarely converse online with. It's kind of like being at a party with a thousand people, twenty-five of whom you know that are spread evenly throughout the crowd and having to stop and listen to a conversation with 40 strangers before I get the chance to speak to one person I know. I think Seany alluded to this re discussing soccer and cricket and also powerage/Garibaldi Red. Just an observation.

I'm surprised to see the some of the negative comments about the TPFP. On the whole it was a really good site, sure there are posts and topics that we can easily ridicule but the same could be said for most forums. BF is excellent and it's great the posters from TPFP are adding to this already great forum.

i think you will find that most of the negativity came from the fact that many posters were banned for nothing or very minor things, or having your own opinion that they didnt like, or at the very least just being on BF as well

Even though we have a 'general AFL' thread you're more than welcome to start a new thread on these sort of subjects. If the subject is not directly related to the PAFC or is Magpies specific, it may get moved into the appropriate sub-forum.

Also, it's not uncommon for topics to be cleaved out of the 'general AFL' thread to become threads in their own right.

Hmm Greg - you'll get me into trouble with Sarina and without just cause (I've never called her Gladys - lol) - hope she doesn't twitch her nose at me if we run into each other at Alberton Oval this coming Saturday!;)

Edit:- I need my fave emoticon from TPFP (the ziplip one) - I'm missing it already.

I wouldn't worry Creighton...I'm sure you won't be in trouble with Tabitha. Yes the vast collection of smilies on TPFP was pretty awesome

Thanks Forza. Clearly still 'feeling' my way and appreciate the understanding.

Jeez, I hope your mum didn't call you Esmerelda. :D But anyway, I remember you from there. Easy to relate avatar.

Someone in this thread put their old TPFP username in their sig. Great idea if you have a different one here. It seems I already know the vast majority of posters on here from TPFP whether they be current or former posters, only with the different usernames it's as if I didn't. I can't remember everyone's new name/old name so it's a great idea.

That was me .
