Is there some way to filter the threads in order of latest post (like was the case on TPFP)... it makes it easier to keep up with current conversations and topics!!

I dont understand what you're trying to say? That already kind of happens. The most recently posted in thread goes to the top of the page unless stickied?

The font on a thread title also boldens when you have not read the latest posts in a thread.

It just becomes automatic..finding the latest posts in a thread. I suppose if TPFP is the only forum a user has been on, it can be overwhelming until you get your eye in

If you press the little dot to the left of the thread title you go to the latest unread post.

Took me bloody ages to figure that out, makes it easier.

You should go to the last unread post by default, just by clicking the bolded thread title. Maybe your settings have changed.

For posts to be in order, the 'last message' column must have a little down arrow next to it.

Keep in mind the first few threads in many forums are stickied, i.e. they'll always remain on top as the mods want it that way. Stickied threads have a thumbtack on the right of the thread title.

to those who are wondering or hoping that TPFP could be handed to new administrators, well you can let go of that dream.

As i mentioned earlier myself (and 3 mates) ran a 10,000 user website called Rave Adelaide. We ran this thing for a good 5-6 years and put many many hours into running it.

When we decided that we were done with it there was NEVER any discussion about handing it over to anyone. We even had offers to sell the site to new owners which we declined.

A forum becomes your baby. Especially as Vi and Mark ran it for so many years. Giving your baby to someone else is just not an option

TPFP is gone. Embrace change and move with it. We really are a great community here and embrace new people.

Remember we are all mad Port supporters too

So, better to kill the baby then. Yep, that sounds like the sensible thing to do...

And it's an exciting time to be a Port fan too - not just this year, but for at least the next 3-5 years. Rowey reckons Port won't beat the Crows this year - pffft.

Scythe Buttercorn = Kane Cornes
Immediate = Erection
I get really a get these days brother = A Taylor Walker tweet
The 'I get really a get these days brother' thread = A place where to talk about anything non footy related

Others feel free to add to it.

I must say in my adventures here I always loved the "A spud we made look good thread" Damn Corey Jones may as well be crowned the king of that thread.

Clearly you're not familiar with adoption or Guardianship orders. :p

I was a volunteer on the very first Port Magpies website and it was a shedload of work for the guy who set it up and that was basically just a news site for Port not a discussion forum. TPFP grew very big with a range of discussion boards and would have been a massive workload.

There's nothing stopping anyone from setting up a new version, call it something else, have a tight focus on Port Adelaide only. But as we found in those early Port Magpie website days there was usually a big gap between those who said they would help and those who actually did. That's why these ventures wither and die.

God the time I wasted (well in a good way), on Rave Adelaide and Adelaide Massive in the 00's, was time well spent.

Well maybe "baby" isnt the right term but you get the gist

Handing 1000s of hours of work, dedication and "Life" over to someone else opens up the door to ruining something that you made great.

The risk is too great and unfortunately its the members who do suffer, but handing an entire website/forum to someone else to "take over" to do with as they please just wasnt desirable for a forum owner.

Best option was to close it and move on.

I'm not so sure about better technology, I have no problem logging in to various other sites, but even though I'm using the same pc and keyboard, logging on here is an absolute P.I.T.A.
I get chucked out everytime I try to log on ( sometimes twice ) and then I have to count up to 5 between entering the letters and numbers in my password before the site will accept them.

Surely the fruit tingle area of bigfooty isn't that difficult, not too many of them could count to 5.

Geez I hope that upturned glove puppet who reckons us ex TPFPers are all Tassie refugees and rabble hasn't put a hex on me. lol

Mick, I never log on here as I never log out when I leave this site...I wouldn't even know my password here

Well, I've made the move:)

I'll no doubt miss many aspects of TPFP. Well done to Vi and the gang for running, for what I believed, a very good forum.
I must admit, I'm now seeing where some of the old TPFP users have ended up - here. It'll be great to view their opinions once again.
Things I really enjoyed about TPFP may not or may not feature on here.

  • Firstly, does anyone upload training and gameday photos on here?
  • Secondly, on TPFP, we were able to click on 'Today's posts'. It sorted ALL posts, from ALL forums. Is there a way to view all posts from all PAFC forums on a single page within this big footy forum?
However, I can see a number of features, which I am going to like. e.g. Tapatalk for phones and the general layout of threads.
A simple 'like' button is ideal rather than having to reply 'top post' or 'x2'.

Regardless of pointing out the pros and cons of BigFooty vs TPFP, i'm bloody happy I still have a spot to discuss the greatest club on Earth.
Thanks to those who moderate and organise this forum.

Power Pete often uploads training photos.

Someone else might be able to answer the 'todays posts' question. You used to be able to. Im not sure you still can since we moved to XenForo.

Welcome friend, may the beer be cold and the ladder percentage high.

Welcome to all the TPFP refugees.

Port Adelaide on Bigfooty is a club that has made it's presence felt, right from being the last club board created back in 2001, to now being just one more busy club board.

We have a habit of getting things done here, so join in, it'll improve your time talking Port Adelaide.
