Just been thinking about a few Port posters who we haven't seen for a while, well at least their original user name anyway..

- beenreal...noticed a post of his from the Port/Geelong trial game (1990) thread...haven't seen him post on here for quite some time (perhaps he posts under another name now?)

- Peninsula Boy - used to post regularly on TPFP, and occasionally on big footy..haven't seen him post on here for a while;

- fritz and sauce

According to my inferior memory, there were about 7,000 members on TPFP as it closed, yet now, even after the Great Migration, there are only 3,699 confirmed Port supporters on Big Footy. I find this somewhat perplexing, even though there are several thousand users who have no team nominated
How many of those 7,000 members were active and visited or posted in the last 12-24 months?

Some of those 7000 would have been fans of other clubs. The day JMac died, certain opposition fans logged onto TPFP to express their sympathies.

Did you really think I could answer that as you posted?
No but why are you surprised if you didnt have an idea how many accounts were basically inactive?? If only 1,200 were active then why are you surprised 5,000 didnt move across? That's what I was getting at.

I'm sorry, but I don't recall mentioning anything about "active" members? Do you know how many were active, and how many came across? I have no idea and can only compare figures I know about. I don't recall seeing figures that there were only 1200 active member, sorry

Yeah but all forum websites have a lot of members registered and people drop off but dont cancel their accounts. It looks good when you say to potential advertisers - we have xxx number of members and they dont ask how active are they. Big Footy has about 85,000 members but I reckon it hit 120,000 so the administrators might have had a big cull at some point maybe in 2012 when the software and look of the forum changed.

So I'm surprised that you thought the majority of members would move across to Big Footy. If you looked at the 500 most active TPFP members, they probably were responsible for 75% of the posts, and I'd put money on the majority of those posters have moved across.

Where did you get "3,699 confirmed Port supporters on Big Footy" from? You used to be able to look at all the members, there was a link/tab at the top of the page and you could go through the list in alphabetical and numerical order. The current members tab at the top of the page has bugger all info.

Can't believe this thread is still going ....

Totally over it now. Missed it big time for a long time, but as the saying goes, time heals all wounds.

In fact, the biggest regret is that the site closed down with all access completely denied. I'm positive I'm not the only one, but it bugs me big time, that all the projects that I put together, costing hundreds of hours of work , cannot be rescued and kept in my files, let alone share it all with others, maybe here?

Not the only one who ended up wasting their time. It would be an act of common courtesy if the site was opened for a short and specified time so members could recollect all the contributions and works that put together, and really mattered to each individual.

The amount of PAFC stuff on that site was beyond enormous, and now it's all lost!!

good point

the quality work done by some actually forms part of the "record" of our great club. Like some of the documents available on the web, written in the early part of last century, they are so valuable when piecing together our clubs history.

I don't think that works. You can see the website but can't login of course. I don't think the archive would keep user info.

Haha last night I was thinking of your all Magpies ever drafted thread. This great site I found recently has some errors. I have found the odd one here and there, but last night when I looked up players drafted from the Magpies it only had 48 and I remember either you started with 72 or at some stage we got to 72 in the thread. I thought now have I copied werner's info either into a thread here or saved it somewhere, and I did a quick look and found nothing. Yes lack of access bugs me.
