I don't know how it worked on the other site but the one thing we are probably lacking over here is someone with a bit of time on their hands doing a full match preview write up. It'd be the icing on the cake if someone made a good fist of that.

It's great he's here but his opening post looked like he was as shattered as I was & I assume a lot more people were when they went to get their TPFP fix in the morning & saw the announcement out of the blue.

I can't imagine how the more long term members felt seeing as I was only really there for 5-6 years (felt longer lol). It's a real shame we're unable to give our thanks to Vi & Mark for the great job they did.

Which is a good thing! Lets hope those from yonder find this place accommodating. We'll do our best as mods to make sure everyone is welcome.

I haven't been at this for long enough. Last year we had some good ones but no one poster really nailed down the task.

It's not even a big issue, the discussion in the threads is always first class anyway, just when you look at some over team boards they often have a poster who goes all out on the previews. Far better than any many stream journalism write ups.
 
Macca19 does great previews but I think we're getting to the stage of making that rock bleed. :p
 
I was doing some big previews through 2011 & 12 but lost motivation to continue doing it through those dark days.

Other boards change who does it weekly to keep the ideas fresh so maybe we can start doing that.

Devo it's gone. I loved the site and for years was my sole footy site after getting sick of big footy in about 2005 I think. I guess refinding BF a few weeks ago was meant to be.

I hope the rest goes does well for Vi and thankyou to Vi and Mark and the others for all their hard work put into the site.

I hope the site returns one day, even if the forum side of it is reduced, but I used to love the history part of the side, with full player bios on every port player sanfl and afl... Wish they could resurrect that for us.

I'm happy to start up my weekly previews again, I'm not doing much apart from magic and beer ATM so that works for me.

Ps i was banned as they found out I also posted on BigFooty. It was weird
 
There are a few TPFP posters I'd be happy not to make the cross over to Big Footy. Mainly those older negative heads (those who checked out the site could work it out).

They'd find a way to ruin a good thing here on BF.

Whilst there are queries on some administrative decisions made it was still a discussion forum for Port supporters with some very good contributors, discussion and information.

x2. Sad to see it go, but sometimes some things come to an end. I wish Vi and Daryl all the best in the future and to those who are knocking the site... sometimes the same shit happens here too.

Surely with such a long-standing presence and sizeable community there would've been time to build a trustworthy volunteer admin/moderator cadre not unlike BigFooty?

This could've allowed Vi to take a backseat and be more of a silent owner not unlike Chief, whose operation is mindbogglingly massive but workable.

Failing that, why not look to sell in order to keep the community and IP together rather than just scorched earth it?

Strange option to take.
 
I'm sad to see it close down. It had its negatives, but I continued to log on/post on there until recently.

Perhaps some sort of informal arrangement/alignment could be made between Port Big Footy, and the Outer Army.

There will undoubtedly be more who make the move over here, although I'm not sure how someone like "Powerup" would fare on here, lol.

Great to see T5889 make the move - his post game reviews in conjunction with Macca will be sensational.

Perhaps we'll also see an appearance of the guy from a few years ago, who joined TPFP, but only lasted about a week, after revealing he followed Port up til the early 1970's, then moved to a small town in France, but had only just recently got his electricity set up. He wanted to know what the hell had happened with Port over the last 40 years :eek:I think he didn't appreciate the skepticism in the responses he received but I'm fairly sure he was legit :D

Haha I remember that person, iirc it was grosh147 who was the most skeptical of that story, ahh good times :p

As for Powerup & a few other outspoken individuals well I didn't often venture into the full on Magpies discussions or serious topics for that reason, which is probably why I saw TPFP in a better light than those who left for those reasons.
