Thanks MP, Spook inboxed an application form to me..I'm still going over the finer points. Obviously the height and weight answers are for your imaginary player as I would gather a 4',3" 18 stone bald guy would not hold down the centre half forward position successfully

EDIT: Oh and MP I hope those pics I posted for you were in fact taken at the Mannum Showground and not Tailem Bend? That fence looks familiar to the one I saw picked up still in one piece and deposited in the cemetary at the back after a voilent storm in the late '70's
Those photos are sensational, the club rooms are exactly the same as are the cricket club rooms. We are doing upgrades now though so the 70's look will soon disappear. Would it be ok to post those photos on the Mannum Football Club facebook page?

Could I just ask the person who took them first? I know I have made them public domain now, but I would feel better. I'd say the person would agree being an ex Mannum person, I'll get on it straight away...who knows they may have more

Yep that's fine.

I tried leaving a comment in the Ollie Wines signs section but says thread closed. What's up with that ?

I dont understand what you're trying to say? That already kind of happens. The most recently posted in thread goes to the top of the page unless stickied?

Actually, the threads in the home page are always in the same order for me. I don't know if it is the browser I am using (FF) or than I am on a MAc (or both) what but they just don't change. Even if you go to the setting at the bottom of the page and select to order by most recent post. This makes it quite hard to know what the new topics are or what people are talking about. It seriously limits the usability of the site for me. Any ideas?

Just had a look at this thread, i joined TPFP way back, before i joined BF. I was known as CountrySupporter. Or to some......campaigner Of A Supporter :p

I didn't really feel the love, i got warned many times for posts i thought were very tame, I've always been passionate about my club, but i don't have the footy nouse that a lot of posters do. Don't get me wrong, TPFP gave me my Port Adelaide fix. I lurked more than i posted.

I then stumbled across this bloody lot on BigFooty, I thought all my Christmases had come at once. Another lot of Port Adelaide freaks, but this lot had a sense of humour, and some very good footy knowledge. I joined up as BWST. Green of course, and silly like i am. I've learnt more about Port on this board, than i have in my life time.

As far as the mods go here, you couldn't ask for better. I remember when Foot Falcon was made big boss of this board, it was a simple choice. He is the most level headed man of the world ( hope that gets me points ) :p Macca is a country boy, travels to watch his footy, one of the best judges of a game. FishingRick is a fisherman, i know him from a fishing forum.........but that's a long story. All the posters on here are very clued up about our club.

My point.............fantastic board, very tolerant people that love a laugh. Gives me my Port Adelaide fix with bells and whistles

And of course the best mods are the ones that go unnoticed. ;)

Scythe Buttercorn = Kane Cornes

Hot pie in the face and held there = Ninja manoeuvre from back in the day

Foot Falcon = Ford Fairlane
I don't care = anything crow related
Not so = Nigel Smart

GTFO = GTFO
I am 12 what is this?

I knew i missed one Forza, i'm so sorry. It's because your the quiet achiever. When i hit post, it was playing on my mind that i missed a mod. Thats your fault for being so quiet and gentlemanly :D

Dont ban me :)

Hi guys, I'm another TPFP refugee , I've lurked for years on and off big footy, I had a account here but for the life of me couldn't remember my username , must say with TPFP demise I was a bit demoralised and shocked but I'm pleased that everyone here has been warm and accepting of us blow ins :) , good to see so many TPFP members also made the journey so I don't feel like the new kid at school.

I'm kind of shocked to read that many of you had issues with TPFP or bad experiences , I must have been lucky but I never felt like I had to restrain my comments or opinions, anyway big thanks to Vi & Mark for over 10 years of providing an outlet to voice our love of the PAFC with all the highs and lows and frustrations , all the best for the future

To my old and new Port brothers and sisters here at BF, heres to a big 2014 and beyond

It was this time last week, to the minute almost, that I started this thread. It was one started in haste, disbelief, amongst many other emotions.

One week later, and it seems that the nightmare has come to life. It's a really difficult thing to experience, and please don't think one is being over dramatic here. To lose a 10 year daily ritual can be upsetting to many different degrees. Two highlights of my life were to meet Vi and her family, and Mark. The chance to meet and greet and thank them personally was significant for me. Was all about timing, and for a Port boy living in Melbourne, the site was just everything, like Alberton was almost in my own backyard here.

Anyhow, there were a few sort of unwritten rules at TPFP, and whether they were right or wrong, good or bad, I will remain fiercely loyal to Vi and Mark. They are my friends, and I love them for the pleasure they brought me.

Unfortunately, all looks lost, so we search for a new home. Now I must say, that the welcome mat has well and truly been laid out here in this thread, almost over the top even? The biggest relief for me so far, is the contact remains with the TPFP members that mattered to me. You just can't chuck out a decade long of banter and bullshit overnight.

I'm now gonna give this site a fair go, and make my own mind up, got no choice now. But I'm truly appreciative to have my account accepted. I'm going to refrain from using comparisons with TPFP, because so far it's a one horse race. Where is a sub-forum dedicated to PAFC history, and history alone? Start one up and see what happens maybe? Got plenty to give, and so have a few other TPFP rippers, just need somewhere else to put it up, along with some encouragement.

Go PORT!!

Club 1870 for me is really about cataloguing our players rather than a history reminiscing board. Although if you have a look there you will see that Macca and I have written histories of a number of Port Adelaide premiership years.

The Port Magpies Board isn't overly used but that will probably change with our new reserves team. Still I think that is the most likely place for at least gauging the interest of posters in having historical discussions. Remember we already have three sub-forums, as many or more than the other clubs. I'll find a few historical threads and bump them over there. Add to those, create some new ones. Let's see how it goes.

werner at the end of the day, like most things this site is what you make of it. A VF Monaro isn't an HQ Monaro even if they share the same name. We can offer you power and performance but the ride won't be the same. To paraphrase The Boss, it will feel like the house is haunted and the ride is rough and you have to learn to live with what you can't rise above, in this tunnel of Port. ;) But give it a shot and you just might find you like it here. As CSNY sang if you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with.

To the TPFP posters don't be afraid to get out of this thread, follow your compatriots like Seanybruz Zakk Wylde grosh147 even b0ydman into the light. Explore the boards enjoy the strange new world. Remember Neil Armstrong wouldn't have been half as famous if he'd stayed in the lunar module muttering 'one small step for man ...' ;)

Hi , I'm sort of over the shock now , and I agree the welcome mat has truly been put out for us , much appreciated , and as some have already mentioned , I also will not make comparison's to Tpfp v Bf , would not be fair on both I think , again thank you Bf for allowing us to join you.

Thanks, and not a problem, our borders aren't that sovereign. ;)

After a week or so since TPFP closing I have come to the conclusion that it was rather poorly handled. Werner you spoke about it being a 10 year ritual, for me it was a 6 year daily ritual. To go to a site to find it was just shut down with no warning, no options, no nothing shows very little respect for all the people who contributed let alone financially contributed to the site. I have a great amount of respect for the people who ran the site, the time it took, etc. but it was very poorly handled and should have been done in a way were people at least had some notice.

Some excellent points proman, like many I believe it would have been much better for some notice to have been given before the plug was pulled, and us daily posters had to go cold turkey.

That aside, I am absolutely dismayed that Vi was threatened and abused, and we can only assume that had something to do with the decision to close the site.
