"The Western Bulldogs have released statement saying that captain Ryan Griffen is contracted for 2015 and is a required player at the club."

I've got half a mind to suggest that we do the same and be done with it...
I'd rather force him into the draft than take a pick in the 20's, gives him a few weeks to rethink his position too. Don't see why we should be doing him any favours if the circumstances floating around here are correct. It seems like a self-inflicted situation for which the club are going to pay.

That's my thinking. If he's contracted, I'd rather take the risk of holding onto a disgruntled little $&@! in the hope he sorts himself out and decides to stay after 12 months.

looks to me like he needs a mooney/stokes style intervention.
get him to move in with one of married seniors. that will sort him out.

Surely the club would have announced he's contracted if he was and wouldn't be looking to entertain any sort of trade just yet.
But if he isn't why would they say they were "considering it's position"? If he's uncontracted and wants to leave, what could they possibly "consider"?

Why does anyone think there is even a chance that Christensen is contracted, read the Bulldogs statement and then read ours.He is not contracted. None of this would be an issue if he was contracted. He is 23, there is no risk of free agency. We would just tell him, sorry Al, shame you've got all this stuff going on, but the thing is, you have a contract, are 23 and one of our best players, you have to stay.

Use some common sense FFS.

My position on Lonergan is the same as well. He's under contract, so unless we receive an exorbitant offer, we are under no obligation to trade him, and as such should be keeping him at the club. Losing multiple crucial pieces of the jigsaw derails our transition project - which, despite the doom-mongering of some, has actually been proceeding very well - and jeopardises not just the possibility of short-term success, but also our medium and long-term planning. Presuming Christensen is contracted, it strikes me as idiotic to facilitate a trade that will directly compromise the strength of our club going forward.

in hindsight in was the right thing to do. we were never gonna be premiers in 2014, so might as well rebuild

same goes for enright kelly hmac this year

not sure how ppl can say it was the right call moving them on but are dead against moving on some of our veterans this year
Move on Kelly and Hmac for all I care... Oh wait they're contracted so that won't happen.

Move Boris on before 300 and I'll fight anyone on here;)

I can't picture Geelong releasing a statement like that if he was contracted. Not saying they shouldn't, just doesn't seem their style.

Agree with this, however we haven't had official confirmation yet that he is uncontracted, even though it is, as you say, common sense to assume it.

Man, This trade circus is only going to get worse in coming years.
Get ready for a lot of heartache- No club is safe.
Especially guys now making more open opportunity/career/family/dog/girfriend/coachlove/coachhate moves
sigh! Brave new world:(:mad::eek::cry:........
Great theatre though
We should just go to 'schoolyard' picks at the start of each season..

These Gen Y footballers from all clubs have offically taken over our beloved game and in typical fashion have ruined it for all of us.

Overpaid, selfish tools.
Its the way of the world these days. Live to have fun, you only live once.
Its not a generational thing though. All AFL players under the age of 34 are 'gen y' and not all of them act that selfishly.
