Maybe it's for his girlfriend's sake that he's doing all this? Which is very admirable - if true.

We can look on the situation from a hundred different angles and arrive at 100 different solutions for Allen's problems but nobody here knows what is really going on (obviously that's not going to stop us from judging him :(). I doubt we will ever know but I seriously hope that the club has been advising AC on this all through its various stages. Whatever conclusion he arrives at, I hope it's the best one, for his sake. As you said- he's only 23. So, so much life yet to be lived and I hope he doesn't regret whatever decisions he makes.

Having said that- I hope the club plays hardball and that he doesn't slip away to Qld or WA. They don't deserve him!! We DO!!
She will put him through the wringer and then dump him when he's most vulnerable, she will have revenge on the slow burner if she is true to her gender,if Bundy thinks it's bad now I've got bad news for him.
Stay with the Cats and put your head down and arse up and you will get through this son would be my advice.

Watch Warwick Capper on open mike. She demanded he moved to Brisbane where it destroyed his career end ended up finishing his career about 5 years too early. Of course we don't know Bundy's situation for sure and its all speculation at this stage.

But they have removed the line that says he was not contracted! It was definitely in the hard copy this morning .... I just double checked and it was page 46. I'm not sure if it's a good or bad sign. Emma Quayle usually knows her stuff.
Just looking at the photo from that article the players who have worn number 10 haven't been that successful or had much luck over the past couple of decades. Hopefully that's about to change!

people will be shocked when a group of veterans retire at the same time. and they will blame any drop off in ladder position on the experience we have lost.

is it just me that sees hmac, bartel, kelly, enright, johnson lonergan mackie, menzel, cowan all dropping off in the next two years.

the young players you have mentioned are no way near ready to replace them unless we start playing them now
No. The match committee pick them, and they know better than you. :)

My position on Lonergan is the same as well. He's under contract, so unless we receive an exorbitant offer, we are under no obligation to trade him, and as such should be keeping him at the club. Losing multiple crucial pieces of the jigsaw derails our transition project - which, despite the doom-mongering of some, has actually been proceeding very well - and jeopardises not just the possibility of short-term success, but also our medium and long-term planning. Presuming Christensen is contracted, it strikes me as idiotic to facilitate a trade that will directly compromise the strength of our club going forward.
Disagree.

Imo we are bugger all chance for short term success, not a flag anyway, and therefore those jigsaw pieces aren't so crucial.
I think earlier-than-expected departures will have the effect of accelerating our mid-to-long-term planning, not jeopardising it.

And it depends what you consider proceeding 'very well' - we've done ok, we've given the more promising kids a taste of finals, but we are a fair way off Haw/Syd/Port and probably North also. I'm not sure if that counts as doom-mongering or not ...
I think we'll be lucky to hold ground next season as the veterans continue to decline and the youth continues to find their collective feet.

Why would you presume Christensen is contracted?
I say plan for the worst-case scenario; if he's outta there, if Lonergan wants out, then we need to deal with it and get the best possible result for the club.

Man, This trade circus is only going to get worse in coming years.
Get ready for a lot of heartache- No club is safe.
Especially guys now making more open opportunity/career/family/dog/girfriend/coachlove/coachhate moves
sigh! Brave new world:(:mad::eek::cry:........
Great theatre though
We should just go to 'schoolyard' picks at the start of each season..
I think they should televise every move- make a miniseries about it all - a reality show. Every move a player makes, every thought he has, every discussion their managers and the list managers have.
Ch7 could make a killing!

And have BT commentating in the background, on all the moves - just for laughs!! ;)

to criticize the mc is to be labeled a DQ, normally from the one eyed optimist
some here shook there heads when smedts was picked against sydney,
chris scott knows what he is doing the optimists said

if we where to criticize this christensen no contract situation? would we be labeled DQ's too?

Absolutely you would be.

Remember, when in doubt, agree with the majority. Especially the really stupid ones. It is going to fun to watch the meltdown next year (and it's an early present to see some of it already).

Wow. Rare to see a club captain request a trade.
Hmm ... Who was that Geelong bloke...? err.. Whatsizname... Can't recall. Seem to have wiped him off the memory database.
Anyway, HE wanted a trade, didn't he?
And that bloke Judd- he was captain of the WCE when he requested a trade.
It's pretty rare- but it happens.

How the hell does Hawthorn have salary cap room? Their entire recruitment situation is very suspicious.

We should clear some space and throw some big $$ at Gunston or someone next year, see if we can pry one of them loose.
And they would get Dangerfield.:(

The risk here is that if we give into one or two contracted players wanting out, this may lead to an avalanche of players wanting out.

Just throwing it out in this thread.

Every gun player who wants to move for $$$ has his manager put out a "Cool story, bro" rumour that has nothing to do with $$$.

There is no town or city big enough in this country not to be too small to live in, if there is a good offer somewhere else. There is always the family too. Escaping from, running to etc.

(Too cynical?)

According to Greg Denham on SEN this morning:

- Two reasons why Christensen is leaving. Firstly, the aforementioned issue that running away from won't necessarily fix (so Denham knows what we know but didn't go into details). Secondly, a family issue. He didn't expand any further on that.

- Said that the Cats had a generous four year offer on the table for Christensen. So it isn't as though they haven't been trying to get his signature. Although he didn't specify if he's contracted the four year offer seems to suggest he isn't.

Also said that it's unlikely that he'll change his mind.

We all know you know better than the combined knowledge of all the football departments Pear Tree. That's why you are a strategist at one of the top clubs and not sitting at a keyboard all day posting from the cheap seats. Wait a minute!!!!!!!!

No I just enjoy pointing out to idiots when they're wrong. A 1-5 finals record over three years is the stuff of dreams.

Next year is going to be pure bliss.

You certainly have the inside running when it comes to idiots that's not in question.

As for Bundy. He seems to be in a tough place emotionally. Hope it all pans out well for him. In the end it's only footy.

True. Frequenting these boards I have to interact with them all too often.
