So if the above is true and he still has a year to go, can't we just say thanks but no thanks, kind of like what the Pies are doing with Beams? I'm not wary to all the intricacies but unless it's a matter of life or death we hold all the cards.
We can do this. Then he might walk next year.

It's not releveant. He wants to leave Geelong. He doesn't want to be here or play for the club. Do you think he'll put 100% effort next year if we force him?

Might as well trade him now for something.

How do you know what it's about?
Maybe his girlfriend got a once in a life time job up there and he loves her dearly so wants to follow her up?
Maybe he did cheat and she is heading to qld and as above, he wants to follow?
Football is not finite. He's playing for the club he loves, who he's followed from being a boy.

The hypothetical issues you are raising just don't match up. Then to drop it on the club like he has, is quite disgusting.

It's a smack down, for no reason at all other than his own immature decisions in life.

Pick 91 for Steven King for a start. An AA and premiership player who was the standout ruckman on GF day.
Waiting for the reply 'but we didn't need him anymore anyway'.
Collingwood and Hawthorn have never done such a thing
Collingwood don't get a chance to. They just leave. King was probably off contract anyway so we just sped up the process

Barrett saying Christensen indicating to Brisbane they are favoured over GC.
The way Barrett spoke about Brisbane winning over GC was sort of weird. Surely, provided he's contracted, Geelong holds all the cards so they will make the deal that best suits them. If GC offers the Cats a better deal, then it's too bad if Christensen prefers Brisbane, or it least it should be.

Which player have we been "bent over" with their dealing?
Don't bother I've quoted him (and Sleazy for that matter) with all trades from the last 7 trade periods. Still no response on where we've been 'Bent over'. Like making the claim, don't like backing it up.

So instead of making a former club captain wait and go through the PSD process, helping him get to his club of choice is a bad thing?

I would take pick 15 and a swap of 2nd round draft picks.
If he wants to go, let him leave.
Not to say he's overrated, but he is injury prone and I do question his longevity.
If we can end up with 3 picks in the top 30, Clark for effectively Varcoe, and hold on to Lonergan (seems more & more likely with the dramas at W.B), I'd be happy. A bonus would be picks under 50 for Hunt and/or Brown.
We haven't loaded up in the draft since 2001 and we all know how that worked out. Just hope it's as good a year as that one.
