For some reason I'm finding Bundy leaving more upsetting than Gaz. Given his importance, how could we not tie up his contract? And I was laughing at North two days ago.

Anyway, 2009 draft makes me so sad.

#17 Daniel Menzel
#27 Mitch Duncan
#40 Allan Christensen
#42 Nathan Vardy

How brilliantly we've done. It should've set us up for a decade. And how little we got out of it.

OK we won a premiership in 2011, but with a bit of luck it could/should have been so much more.

I have always had a nagging sense Christensen would not reach his potential. He is a pure footballer but I doubt he has the drive of a Caddy or Duncan. He always returns to pre-season out of shape. The game is becoming brutal for players of his size.

This is a sad way for it to end but I have accepted it now and we just have to hope we draft a good player in return. Does 15, 21 or 25 really make that big of difference? Only Wells will know that so I am not going to have a meltdown if we accept a lower pick.

Brisbane showed the way last year by getting Lewis Taylor for one of their go home 5. These things work themselves out.

some ppl on this board have lost me for life.

How can other clubs gets what's fair for their player uncontracted or not but Geelong fans say we should just accept what we get. We aren't like other clubs. We will pick a good player anyway.

IT IS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE. This trade will become the new benchmark for dealing with this club. Guys are already conditioned to begging for thinks like pick 15 as best case scenario. GWS just got a first round pick for O'Rourke. What did Melb give up last year for Dyson?

Clubs are enquiring as they know "we will cop it". If Jamie Elliot, Brad Hill, Joe Carslie, Chad Wingard, Dan Hanerbury or Dustin Martin were off contracted and got a huge offer to leave do you think thier clubs would except pick 25 because they have no levergae

We lost this trade when we let his contract run down, all we are doing now is trying to salvage something from the wreckage. There is an admission amongst all clubs that the club losing the player gets the poor end of the deal. Players move frequently now, so the only way you regain ground is to get someone from another club next year.

We are on the losing end here but that is through bad management and we will pay a price. Hopefully lessons are learnt and we sign up Motlop and Hawkins a bit earlier next year.

Brisbane took unders for their players last year. They will expect us to do the same. Deal with it. It is our problem, not theirs this time.

Brisbane board is an absolute fantasy land. They're suggesting 5, 21 and 25 will head to Collingwood in exchange for beams and 30 - with 30 then coming our way for Bundy. Crazy.
Not sure what you're reading. Majority view on our board is 5 and 25 to the Pies and 21 to you, maybe with some swapping of later picks. Think that is likely to happen.

Ha ha doesnt happen. Ok so melb are now getting pick 80 for Clark as they have no leverage.....wait a minute they are getting a 2nd round pick at least
Perhaps, we'll see, but Clark is a 200cm forward who has proven ability to kick bags of goals at AFL level.
Bundy is sub-180 cm midfielder with recent history of back issues.

Don't know about Pies part but agree with 21 - and said as much when the news broke that Bundy wanted out.

Maybe wishful thinking but I wonder what the relationship is like between Scott and Leppa, maybe they can find some common ground and screw Collingwood somehow. Though Beams having a contract is a complicating factor.

I think Bundy is going for a pay rise. You can't blame the club if he and his management refuse to sign and they are secretly talking to a cashed up club in Brisbane. The cover story maybe true. But you don't leave the state for that, and not signing a good 4 year deal that was offered is now suspicious. I just don't buy the story being the cause. Otherwise half the AFL would be moving interstate every other year!

So if Bundy is going for that, then Geelong need to squeeze everything out of the deal they can and stuff Bundy's best interests, which is only money, anyway.

I got news for you. Beames isn't that good. And Bundy isn't that bad. The numbers reflect the way the two teams trade more than the players' worth.

Agreed. Been watching footy for 50 years and learnt that most supporters overrate their team and it's players - me included. We aren't well placed to judge what is reasonable. What will be will be and life will go on. Cheers.

Didn't Bundy drop to 40 because there was a huge question mark on this fitness and desire. I'm honestly not surprised that he couldn't hack whatever became too hard for him. He is a gun but with his back issues he would have to put in extra effort to get himself right. I don't think he has that in him. We should be happy we are getting something for him.

Nothing can be ruled out and that could be correct if the other rumour is true there will be child support,he's going to need some COLA.

Interesting comment bulletproof and if true makes me more than a little worried coming on the back of Hawkins comments about fitness. Has the club become complacent on the back of recent on field success.

The main reason in the discrepancy in the Beams and Christensen deals is that Beams has a contract. My guess is that Christensen is higher rated in club land than by the media boffins and were he under contract we would comfortably get the deals people want. But he is not. We will pay for that.

It is hard to say without knowing the details, they may have done everything possible.

I think an element of complacency is natural in any organisation that has achieved what we have. People won't accept it, but it is human nature. That is why you need to regenerate. Hopefully this is the shock we needed.

You dont think mitch clark would get to us if he went into the preseason draft. You cant have it both ways. 2nd rd pick is fair for him and a top 10 pick is fair for christensen.

Still think the Eagles would offer pick 11. I'm sure we would offer more money to him as well.
Hopefully because Brisbane and GC are offering jack S*** for a player who is worth a 1st rounder. I and the whole Geelong board will love West Coast if we get pick 11 for him :D where as Brisbane are offering a 2nd round pick with Merrett, BLOODY MERRETT :mad:o_O!!!!!

I think the confusion around his contract status as well clouds it all.

Contracted then the Cats need to stand firm, push him towards the Eagles ;)
