Still trolling away TG! I guess you get some enjoyment out of it, and the mods are a tolerant lot, so you're still here! I don’t think we’ll be able to afford Petracca, and why would he come to us? Dees look closer to a Premiership than we do.
I think Josh Kelly from GWS is much more likely. He’s a gun but has endured a little form dip over the last year or so, just like GWS has as a team, which will have reduced his monetary and trade price. Kelly’s a goal-kicking mid and is excellent on both sides of his body. I think he’s a much better player than Zac Merritt.

Mates a journalist has to watch nearly every game, told.me last year Josh Kelly is overrated and so is his kicking.
He was the guy they should have grabbed with the two firsts used on BeamsIf we still had the upcoming first, I'd trade it and next year's first for Petracca - in a heartbeat.
So you say Adams is contracted like it means something. What was the contracted status of the players we traded for nothing?Still trolling away TG! Taylor Adams is signed on until the end of 2024, he may well be our captain in a year or so, and I doubt that he'll be going anywhere. Over the last thirty or so years there's been a fair few patches where our team has been sh*t, yet I'm struggling to think of any players who have left us in that time to go to another club because they thought they may have been more likely to taste success there. By all means come up with a list of the names of the players (who you consider to be in that category) who have left us, but I suspect you'll struggle, and (if so) please explain why you believe (if we are to have another down patch) it will be any different this time around!!
I see you didn't bother to/or couldn't come up with a list of names of players who have left Collingwood over the years because they thought they'd have a better chance of being successful elsewhere! It pretty much doesn't happen, does it?! Yet you were trying to suggest we'd have players wanting to leave if we became a really poor team, as if it happens all the time! Adams gives the impression that he loves it at the club, and it's very hard to see him wanting to go anywhere. The contract status of those players we traded recently surely has nothing to do with this discussion, since none of them were wanting to leave - we pushed them out due to salary cap/behaviour issues. So you say Adams is contracted like it means something. Basically, I think our midfield is in dire straits over the next 3 years unless we get someone in to bolster it - and Petracca would probably be my first choice.
Moore to the forward line for the rest of the season to see how he goes. Kelly to defence. Trade in a mid. Draft blokes who are quick.
A midfield is easier to fix than finding a key forward. If we have an opportunity to get a good key forward that would be my priority.
I think we could use some additional depth in midfield but I don't think it is as dire as you assess. While Pendles, Sidey and Adams are there it's going to be competitive. They have enough footy left in them to do some trades to bolster it.
We need someone to replace Pendles in the next couple of years. But I think we have enough salary opening up that it shouldn't be an issue.
I’m the opposite, previously being a key forward was much harder, so finding good ones that actually performed consistently was rarer and thus they were more valuable. Now it’s looks like as long as your not an absolute spud you’ll perform.Previously, I hadn't been too worried about KPF and thought the good ones were ridiculously overpriced relative to their contributions, but with the changes to the game, they may become kings again - it's time to go back to 2016 and try Moore up front again.
We might already have a gun KPF in Moore and a solid KPD or two in Keane and Kelly. I think that's more likely to sort out our KPP spots than it is for us to suddenly have a good midfield. I'm less optimistic about our medium to short term midfield future. I already think Pendles and Sidey should be playing mainly wing/flanks. Adams isn't the type who is likely to still be good long after 30 - he's 28. I wouldn't be banking on any of our current mids being competitive around stoppage in 3 years time. But the club should have a better idea about our youngsters - they may be able to bank on a couple of them and we may get lucky with TBrown and Sier - but I'm not confident there either.
One other thought I have had about trading our 2021 1st is keeping it would have given us the chance to review what KPFs are available in this draft.A midfield is easier to fix than finding a key forward. If we have an opportunity to get a good key forward that would be my priority.

That does make sense - but I think it'll change as I think KPDs will get forced to play their man much tighter. Thus the difference between the good ones and the average ones will be a lot of goals. For the last few years, you've been paying half a million bucks more for an extra half a goal a game.I’m the opposite, previously being a key forward was much harder, so finding good ones that actually performed consistently was rarer and thus they were more valuable. Especially with this class being relatively unknown at the time we traded due to no footy in 2021 it’s plausible we could have HD a choice between Nick D and a top rated KPF.
Although we may take Nick by choice in that setting to cut off all choice seems premature. Of course the worse senario is Nick D isn’t rated as big as our round 1 pick and we could have got Nick plus another, possibly that KPF from the top 10 we need.
Not a silly proposition. However, I think most sides realise rucks not as important any more. Unfortunately we were the last team to realise.
Grundy went at around 40% to advantage in the first half last week fwiw. League average is about 13%
Would love to see what the parameters are around what they deem to be "advantage".
I suspect its much like the kicking stat.
It’s all relative. Previous to now a 2-2.5 gpg key forward was elite. Now it’s looking like the elite guys are going to be getting 4-5 goals per game. A 50 goal season is going to be middle of the road from here on if the game remains in its current form.I’m the opposite, previously being a key forward was much harder, so finding good ones that actually performed consistently was rarer and thus they were more valuable.
