We’d also still have the Hawks 1R. GCS have Uwland whom I have challenging Sharp for pick #1 as well as top 10 prospects Patterson and Addinsall. White is also eligible for their academy picks but I really think he’s being touted as a lot better than what he is and is also eligible for Melbourne’s NGA. Whilst they are already flush with picks (again) there’s no way 17 and a F2 gets us a top 10 pick from GCS. They’ll trade their picks down in this draft to maximise their points then trade their leftovers into next year. Again.
F1st and F2nd and keep 17 and use on a player or trade into 2026

North Melbourne’s F1 got pick 27 this year. Think we need to be realistic about what it would buy, especially when GCS will have suitors coming out of their ears for those picks. Again.
We are one of the best suited teams to get them, probably along with the Roos and Bombers.

The F1 for 27 isn’t a great comparison. Was the price at the time of a live draft.

Blues F1 and F2 got pick 14 in what was seen as one of the best drafts for picks in the teens.

Point is they will get offers of picks in this draft, for which they will need the points. Like last year they will sell off the remainder for future picks after they have drafted their academy kids and know they won’t need them.

Point still stands we are in a good position as any club to buy those picks

I think that says a lot about the 2024 depth.

Norf F1 got a player tipped to be in the teens plus first pick of 2025 day 2. Either Whitfield or Shanahan would have gone close to justify that trade. Norf are backing themselves in and first time they have acted that way in some years

Agreed. Expect to see a huge premium on picks before 15-20 again this year, with the rest to be diluted by NGA selections.

3 out of 4 northern clubs all having top 5-10 prospects will also mean we can extract maximum value for our picks outside the first round in a trade for points.

The premium will also be because 2026 draft is TAS first concession access. Even if we land Chad we really need another high pick Ideally

Why is every man and his dog upset about Allen meeting up with Mitchell and yet we're all meh about it. Those in charge of the club are coming across as 5oftcock5.

I am hearing the club is OK but the Melbourne media are jumping up and down (along with a few of our sensitive posters)

Internally the club is ****ing pissed. A lot of the players will be fine with it but quite a few won't be either.

To me this is pretty much rock bottom.

Rock bottom on top of this would be Harley wanting a trade.

While both are not good, it gets us to a low water and if both occur, we simply cash out.

Oscar gets us a top 3 pick.

Harley would have 3 heavy suitors
  • Tigers would do well offering up their and Norf R1 this year plus a F2.
  • Dons would make sense giving up our and Dees R1 plus a F1 or a couple of R2 this year (will be dependent on where the 2 x R1 land)
  • Hawks offer up Blues R1 and R2 plus F1 and FF1 (plus we request Ward)

Under the Tigers scenario, we could end up with picks 1 to 4 and it’s a good draft for that. Not as good as 2023 but better than 2024

Plus if Harley does a Horn Francis, would that enable us to go to AFL house and get priority picks?

Happy with either or as long as we get band 1 for Oscar.

Harley can leave if he wants to, but we need to be clear that we wouldn’t accept that offer from the hawks, so it’s either stay, go to tigers or go to bombers.

Essendon also have two juicy 2nd rounders so would want 5,6 and 23. On paper that’s still worse than what the Melbourne offer ended up being.

Sharp, Rodriguez, Onley and Duff-Tyler. Use the Hawks pick and 2nds to trade up m and get Curtin if his season sees him rise.

Duuursma an option instead of Onley. Would prefer Duursma but not sure if he’s a flight risk.

That’s the kind of draft haul we needed in 2022/23 tbh.

Are you able to elaborate at all, regarding the club being pissed? Implications, what you expect to happen next?
