No Roughy wasnt ok this week. But he was better than Boyd was last week.

In one game today Rough took one sixth of Boyd total tally of contested marks in the last twenty something games.

But agree to disagree that Boyd would've done better. Par or likely worse IMO.
Contested marks aren’t everything, but agree to disagree and move on. You are entitled to your view, even if I don’t agree.

That is because Boyd is not and never will be, let me repeat, never will be a ruckman.

Hmmm Ben McEvoy did almost the same to Boyd last week in the third as Max did.

Boyd zero marks and nine touches last week against lesser opposition v Rough with 20 touches and 6 marks....
Here's my issue with Boyd. I don't consider him a good ruck, but when English plays he's no longer the main ruck anyway (presumably) so that's all good, he can do other things instead.

But what other things? What are Boyd's strengths, what makes him standout? I just see a total lack of a point of difference in him as a tall. Schache runs all day, far better than most talls. English has midfielder-like skills in a very tall body. Schache averages 4 marks a game, English 5, and Boyd 2.5. Boyd this season is going at 42% for goalkicking- decent, but not standing out. I just don't see how Boyd compliments our best 22 right now.

I like broad beans !!!
There is no vegetable on this planet that I loathe more than the aesthetically boring and thoroughly unpleasant broad bean. My father liked them though and was determined that i should too. He failed. If you love your kids you'll spare them the suffering that I endured...:p

Done some deep thought about list changes this year. I’ve come up with seven and I think it would be hard for anyone to disagree with these.

Out (trade or delist):
C. Smith- already retired
Honeychurch- lack of height and skills. Never ask for any more effort but effort will only get you so far.
Jong- poor skills, could net us a nice pick to minimise deficit
Campbell- way back in the queue and never going to get a game
Roughead- has completely fallen off, good clubman but boy he has been horrible this year.
Biggs- wonderful in 2016, has been unable to recapture this form and has been pretty poor for a while.
Collins- hasn’t cracked it yet after three years and looks to slow to make it at the highest level.

In:
Gaff- free agent
Rankine- high draft pick if he slips through
West- father son
Khamis- NGA
Gowers- Rookie promotion
R. Smith- RP
Lynch- RP

With our f/s picks & points to consider, not sure how it works as I’d rather trade future picks (2020 from next year) & I’m pretty sure you can only trade 2 within 4yrs or something, but Stef Martin is such the perfect fit it’s ridiculous. Helps incredibly straight away, coming to the end of his career but will get us through the next 2/3yrs whilst English bulks up & conditions ready to take the reigns as the #1 ruck.

Brisbane would need to consent so it would need to be a mutual thing if he wants to leave (again), but would rather not have to trade a future pick right now.

Boyd is a good relief ruckman and on his day clunks a nice mark forward. Grand final day was when he put it together best but he was generally good as a ruck forward when we had a viable #1 ruck.

If English takes the ruck spot he’ll be very good value.

Far out...any danger of signing up Dahl and Mitch Wallis yet?

All the guys at other clubs that are staying are signing new deals. Not particularly keen on the losses getting worse and more frequent next year.

Agree. Wallis is averaging 2 goals per game alongside 21 disposals since his return to the team. He's kicked 15.2 for the season. I can't believe anyone would want to take that out of a team that can't kick goals in order to get draft points.

Tell that to Bevo, bobby2 for I believe he was the first person to question all three players publicly and thus
start the train rolling. They know they have things to work on equates to lift or shift, it's my way or the
highway, you're either with us or against us, do you skate ?,no,well there is the door mate. There is a
subtle difference between having enough points and replacing all the players the coach has black marked
with draftees and matures. Getting three players at draft time is not going to cut it, buddy.
