Who still wants to move Caleb for 25c on the dollar?? Madness.

The kid makes great decisions and is an excellent ball user. And some want to off him for bugger all and spend plenty of chocolates to keep wallis and dal.

I don’t get it.
I admit that I was too hasty with CD. He has been superb these last two weeks. His strengths are what we need in our side.

He's very small and an ineffective tackler.
He's slow but he knows where to go and how to find it.
He's a good decision maker but his execution suffers because he chooses not to use his left foot making him largely one-sided and thus predictable.
His value may have lifted on today's performance but Richmond will test his worth. If not this year, next year. He might even help us get Kelly through some convoluted trade.
All things considered, he's expendable.

good game today but he has been terrible this year and horrendous the last few weeks.

Wouldn't move him on for 25c on the dollar but if a 2nd rounder or better is on the table he should be traded immediately.

As you said when Dahl had a good game - Caleb just may have raised his trade value...

Caleb cant just turn up for two games a year though. Same goes for Dahl and all players.

If moving Daniel on could say help us get M McGovern I'd do it no probs.

I’m against moving Caleb, quite frankly because he’s one of the few guys in this team that can use the ball well by foot. Understand the frustration with him though because he’s had a poor season and his weaknesses have had a torch shone on them.

However, and this isn’t a dig at just yourself, think people overrate Mitch McGovern something chronic on this board. Not saying he’s a bad player, just isn’t anything special. Gets to play as fourth best forward for crows. If he comes our way he’s one or two. Doubt he’d deal with it that well.

His brother is an absolute gun though.

Caleb's kicking and decision making has dropped off for the last two years. First half today he spotted up a few Norfies. Granted he is potentially a better kick than most but that is counter balanced by his significant defensive deficiencies.

McGovern is no gun and possibly injury prone but he can mark overhead up forward which is something unheard of on our list.

You made me think about it for a second. And I'd still trade Caleb for McGovern in a heartbeat.

Directly, I’d probably agree with you. In your original post it sounded to me like you’d offer Caleb and more for him. I wouldn’t give up anything too significant for Mitch.

I doubt just Caleb would get it done..while Im pissing people off, Id throw Young in as well...
I can understand that. Not sure where Young fits in long term. Naughton, Cordy and Adams are our top 3 KPD’s. Trengove can play a role back there. With Khamis coming in the squeeze is on. But I’d want more than Mitch McGovern for Young and Daniel.

Will he grow? Seriously in no rush to trade Young/ Daniel or lose Dahl or Wallis but frankly Id lose any of them for a tallish overhead marking fwd like McGovern.
Yeah fair enough. I get your point. Personally wouldn't trade caleb for him. I'd be interested in seeing where the young talks got us. Not that they'd do straight swap.

As l have stated on many occasions.Plays better when he is the only midget. With Honeychurch and Dahl it just does not work.

We need to give credit to Bevo (or perhaps the assistant coaches?:eek::eek::eek::eek:) for finding a more productive position for Caleb where his tank and distribution skills can be used to advantage. I'm all for giving coaches a whack when they stuff up but so far it's looking like a masterstroke.

The test will come if oppo coaches send players to him, but even that could be a small win as it can let other players (eg JJ) off the leash.

Oh ... and credit to Caleb too. You done good today, kid. Now go have a shower.

Salem and Dom Tyson for josh Kelly is..................not looking good.
To make matters worse, Roos is on record as saying they were taking Billings ahead of Kelly.

He's very small and an ineffective tackler.
He's slow but he knows where to go and how to find it.

I completely believe you’re entitled to your opinion but I couldn’t be more diametrically opposed to this entire post

I don’t have a source and haven’t for a few years.

He left the club and went to another club and now coaches in the Geelong.

I do know someone who is part of the Physio group at Northern Knights and he is tight with one of our physios.

They are very concerned about Webb and Wally wants a change and the Suns have offered $$$$
I’m not sure how the Suns make a Wallis deal that works for them. They have to trade for him otherwise it buggers up their Lynch compo. But if they’re offering big money to attract him up there, then that would almost trigger band 1 compo for us leaving us with pick 6 and 7.

If it did come down to a trade though, I’d love to send Wallis and pick 6 up there and get pick 2 and a back end second round pick.

GCS can afford to be creative, they needs players like Wally.
Professional, mature, level headed and a team-player. Would be a significant step in changing the culture up there plus they have the cap space and picks to get a deal done.

Edit: as it stands they have 2, 17, 26, 28, 38 & 42 before the likely pick 3 compo plus a potential PP at the end of the first round.

They have plenty to offer us for Wallis if he did choose to leave.

Someone suggested during the week that Lynch would be getting so much they can afford to pay a FA about $600k coming the other way and still get top level compo. That's assuming Lynch goes on FA and not as a trade.

I'm no expert in that area but it seems plausible.

But if Wallis gets offered $600k from Essendon, Suns would have to offer something close to $800k. If they do that, that triggers band 1 for us. Pick 7. What can Gold Coast offer better than pick 7 to get us to accept a trade?

Pick 2,42 for Wallis, Jong and Bulldogs 2019 1st Rnd pick. I'm not great at this not sure how points look but will have a go ready to be shot down. They need experience and hardness our two boys will add that we get pick 2 to go with our6/7 plus points to go towards West/Kumis. They get a first back next year which I'm hoping will be mid to late first. Probably would favour us if we rise next year. They want Wallis and if need to trade, they traded 2 for Weller. I'm just dreaming about bringing in Lukousis/Walsh or Rankine at 2 then Smith or King at next and West, Kumis later on.

Very tenuous hypotheticals, but I'd imagine in that scenario they straight out offer picks rather than compo just to preserve their pick 3.
I doubt the AFL with their 'magical formula' would give us band 1 compo when their GC darlings will get the same compo for losing their only marquee player in Lynch.

Free agency period runs a little separately to trade period, starts 5 Oct whereas trade period starts 8 October.
