Yes buyers dictate price. But so does the law of supply and demand. How many marquee players have asked to be traded to GWS? One....now GWS are faced with buggering it up and looking like arse clowns to the industry while screwing Griffen, because they won't trade a player who doesn't want to be there??
I guess for them the decision is ultimately whether to make a statement to the players currently on their list, or to the wider football industry (agents, marquee players, etc).

We lost Garlett for pick 61
We will lose Robinson for nothing

Jones is not worth any more than either of those players. When an uncontracted player wants to leave for a player that 1. doesn't have many other suitors b. has clearly indicated he wants to go to the one club, Pick 46 is exactly his value. He is not worth any more than that. Had the last pick you were planning to use be pick 55, you would have accepted that trade straight away.

You will let him go into the PSD because it means no difference to you. It works the same way when it came to Jeffry, however we let him arrive to the club of his choice to do him a favour.
Okay dude you'll get Jones for nothing...why are you even here then. It's all a done deal, good luck with Liam if he slips to you in the PSD

Came here to see if there was an update on the Boyd/Griff situation and saw a post and replied to it.

Good luck with your endeavours to pick up Boyd and getting fairly compensated for Griff.

You didn't need to lose those players, they are unwanted. So their value is less already.

What statement are they making though? We are so hard headed we will pass up on an AA midfielder to keep a kid that wants out? The statement is don't sign a long term deal with GWS if you're a young player. They have no interest in marquee players to help build the club, so I better leave myself an out.

Ryan 'campaigner ******* piece of ******* scum shit' Griffen
This won't be a majority view but ...
... I know he's stuffed up badly in recent times and his shortcomings as a captain and communicator have been well documented but he's been a fantastic player for us over 10 years and has knocked back bigger $$$ opportunities to stay loyal to the Dogs in the past. He could have done a Ward and play half-hearted in his last game but he got 38 possessions and 3 votes (yes, I know it was against GWS but he was pretty solid over several games at the end of the season).

You are obviously free to think and say what you like but for me I'm just sad for him and us that it's come to this. I don't need to abuse him. I just want it all over and done with ASAP.

Let's start afresh with a great young group who will now assume player leadership of the club.

If they make a reasonable offer and we knock it back it will not hurt them at all. Future Marque players wont take it into consideration as GWS would have been seen to be reasonable in this situation.

Well I guess the debate is what a reasonable offer is. We seem to have fairly different views on this. You may be right who knows at this stage though.

FWIW Barrett and Wallace just described a failure to trade Boyd and Griffen as potentially catastrophic for the players involved and the clubs.

Interesting times.

If we can get Tomlinson and either of 4 or 7 prefer 4 of course but I would say that is a win.
Tomlinson can and is a very promising defender who has been switched back on occasions several times this year. Perfect height to play on the athletic tall and is a very good user of the ball out of the back half.
I really really like him so I hope he is part of the discussion.

Use 4 on a tall and 6 on Laverde or Ahern/Weller.

We get bookends as either and as well as improve our spine. Still leaves a big hole in our forward half we can fill with Boyd. Still a spot for ya big boy get here ASAP.

This is exactly the problem. GWS Cannot look soft to kids wanting to go home to Victoria. They want to draft the best kids with their picks, and guess what, most of them are victorian, without even mentioning Cameron & Sheil coming out of contract in 2015. They fold to Boyd's trade request, and they're putting themselves in a weak light to players wanting to leave in the future.

Already, In just three years in the AFL, the following GWS players have headed to another club:

- Taylor Adams
- Jack Hombsch
- Dom Tyson
- Josh Bruce
- Anthony Miles
- Sam Darley
- Kurt Aylett
- Shaun Edwards
- Jono O'Rourke
- Kristian Jaksch
- Mark Whiley

hahaha, lets cut the bs. Certainly changed your tune from the crap you posted late last week.

1. There was rumblings of dissatisfaction within the club
2. Several players you intend to resign request to leave
3. You attempt two sign/trade for multiple players and all were unsuccessful
4. Your captain quits the club
5. The respond to that from your president was stupid and unprofessional
6. Your club decided that 1 player is more important than the head coach and sacked him (so much wrong with that it is ridiculous. The whole idea of him resigning is laughable)
7. Your captain is still adamant he wants out... oops Doggies
8. You're shopping around your club champion in Cooney to anyone
9. There are rumblings of other stars that are also wanting out... Dalhaus
10. You have how many player around and upwards of 30?
11. Your club is shit today
12. Your club has always been shit
13. Your club will be shit tomorrow
14. Your membership numbers has gone backwards to the same numbers you were in 2006
15. Your recruiter thought it was a good idea to recruit a player under a drugs cloud

The only thing saving Dogs from complete carnage is that your old sons have good sperms.

If that doesn't define rabble, I cannot understand what is.
