Hoping we can upgrade Pick 26 o 27 to a higher one, might be a bit late now.

Cooney seems to be the guy that could do it, don't know.

Next target. J Walker?

Then some cheap mature bodies. Biggs sounds right. Possibly Harper or Mullet
Harper ain't a mature body. He doesn't like the physical stuff. Biggs will be a good get.

Based on Simon Garlicks comments, Minson 100% staying and Cooney 100% going.

“We know our supporters will be thrilled to see Tom play along-side the likes of Liberatore, Roughead, Wallis, Bontempelli, Macrae, Stringer, Dahlhaus, Johannisen, Hunter, Hrovat, Smith, Roberts and Talia, not to mention Minson, Murphy, Morris and Boyd and the rest our dedicated playing group."

Got a text: " We win. They blinked. But we gave a lot. Everyone happy."
No,no,no. Wrapped to get Boyd, couldn't be happier but to give up so much makes be burn inside. Have always had a hatred for Essendon that goes beyond anything I can even put into words but now GWS is right up there too. May they never rise above their current ladder position, be found guilty of salary cap infringements, performance enhancing substances, parking infringements, shoplifting, links with triads, Russian mafia and unnatural relationships with a variety of farm animals. I will now have a cup of tea, a bex and a good lie down.

While slightly off topic, I am relieved (some might not be). If the Boyd trade didn't happen I was going to have a GWS avatar, instead one of the GWS board will be proudly bearing a Bulldogs avatar....betting pays.
In a way... I wish you'd lost.... o_O

We wont be paying some of griff contract
All goes towards gws

Sounds like we are. J Mac also has promised to wash Griffs car for the next 12 months. Paid well over for Byod IMO and paying him a packet in contract. Now is the time to cross fingers and hope he can play under all the pressure and Hype surrounding him. To date he has shown nothing. Has a big body but such a young body at the same time. Hope we are patient this year and not do a Carlton (Kruezer) and burn him out with 12 months.

I've bagged GWS alot in this thread out of frustration but really they played it well. They have gotten overs for a kid that wanted to leave.

Imagine he is a dud, Wright goes at pick 6 or later and is a star. lmao
Wright might not even be there by 6.

Boyd is miles ahead of Wright anyway.

Sick of the club sitting around and hoping for someone to come along. We went out and actually got the guy.

Finally, shit is happening. Gordon needs some serious accolades.

It's a great trade by the dogs!
May have had to give up pick 6, but stuff Ryan and GWS.

Think of the positives of this trade year...
Boyd
Z Cordy
Possibly Shane Biggs
Possibly an uninjured Harper/pick 25
We could still go to the draft with picks 25,26,27
Three of the best kids in the top 30!!!!
Just hope North accept dropping down in the draft for Cooney.
Would be sweet.

The funny thing is that doing a giving 2 for 1 trade may have meant that we can now use a third round pick/delisted FA/etc. That we wouldn't be able to use because because we wouldn't have the list space (especially if we are getting Harper). In other words don't think of it as a Griffen + 6 for Boyd trade, think of it as a Griffen + 6 for Boyd and Biggs trade.

If boyd was in this draft, it would take picks 4, 6 & 7 to move up and get him. He is that much better than any KPF in the last 5 years. I saw him play at 16 and he was clearly better than the 18 year olds on the field.
Essentially we are giving GWS the 3 picks for Boyd.

Totally agree. I'm ecstatic at this news. Just used to things not working out for us lol

We've paid an amazing price for a potentially amazing played. But now the real challenge starts. Can we properly develop Boyd into the star we need him to be? Can we get him the right coaching support to get the best out of him? Do we need a full time forward coach with credentials to suit? We can't afford to risk this valuable asset on the field without support. Jones walked partly because he was a lone target, we can't do the same with Boyd during his formative first 50 or so games. So how do we surround him with the on field support to take the pressure off him and maybe take a key defender, stop him from being double teamed etc. We have Boyd - amazing - but now we need to insure we do the right thing by him and our own investment and do everything it takes to develop Boyd.

I'm not sure about the finer points of the mini-draft, but why was Hogan taken, not him?

Boyd will have gone #1 in this draft as well. So, pick 6 for last years #1

We get rid of some cash, a bloke who wanted out and will be able to pay 105% of the cap in 2016.

Bring on Carlisle as CHB
