I think that we could possibly hold off on finding an A grade ruckman, especially if we can cover one of our other needs
we should try to cover at least one need each year until 2018 & try to retain our draft picks as best we could
Henderson, T.McKenzie, Carlise, WHE; these are the top of players that we should be going for this year
Mckenzie isn't a priority now that we have Biggs webb talia roughead Morris hamling wood down back , I think a chf and a winger are the main priority unless we get Mckenzie cheap ?

Don't concern yourself. J-Mac's first priority is to ensure we have enough cap to retain all our young talent. He will not compromise this by bringing outside talent in. Don't underestimate him. Smart smart man.
Just out of interest when is the next tv rights deal? Isn't that meant to add a large chuck to each salary cap for player payments

Some news at hand.

Jake Carlisle will be leaving Essendon. No interest in staying at all.

We've tabled a significant long term deal. We're not the only club in there swinging though. Carlton, Collingwood and norf have already fired shots as well.

We had a big swing last off-season before the Boyd thing happened, and the Carlisle camp weren't confident we'd still have the cap space to go again this time around...........but we do.

Only minor catch is that he's adamant about playing chb. Still, if he's gettable, you just do it and work out the rest later.
Where did you hear this mate ?

Mckenzies signed long term and would cost more than what he's produced over the last 18 months.

I'm backing Webb all the way. Think he has a chance to be a genuine Birchall type.

I forgot the captain wow
Haha didn't even notice that one, the three players I would be looking towards are Carlisle if true, Walker from Geelong and Nicholls from Gold Coast gives us a CHB CHF and a future no1 ruckman, It would worry me to give up picks this year as I think these three positions we need and midfielders, half back etc. are much easier to get in future drafts when we are higher on the ladder

Carlisle is a gun down back Nicholls haven't seen a lot of doesnt he have a huge leap ? And walker I'm not sold on yet people are getting carried away because he kicked 4 goals on the weekend , don't get me wrong would take him if we could get him cheaply like a swap of players or 3rd rounder

Ruckmen aren't to hard to find either when your high on the ladder. Hale, McEvoy, Ryder, Clark just to name a few. CHF and CHB with Carlisle and Walker would set us up. Walker is only 22 too so hes yet to peak.

His finals series last year was excellent. Really stepped up on the big stage.

Wow, Ok.
You know, even if the whole 'mortgaging the farm' for key position players blows up in our face, Im sick of being timid or prudent or whatever. We are assembling the midfield, lets get the keypos to go with it and give it the best possible crack we can.
And oh, how essendon would hate us.

The Roughie/Carlisle combination would be hugely versatile - between them they have every key position/ruck spot covered. A coaches wet dream.

I'm going more on his games before this season he presents up the ground well and can take a contested grab works extremely hard.

Nicholls has played 15 games mostly while Smith was out injured he averaged 12 disposals 2 marks 4 tackles and 22 hitouts over his games, with Smith Dixon Gorringe Wright on their list i can see him being pushed out

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Carlisle at CHB and WHE on the wing and we have the core of a champion snide. You can then build with role players around the core of 10 stars

We would need to trade for Carlisle and WHE if they were to come. Fair to say JC would take our 1st - no brainer IMO. Someone come up with a trade that would work for WHE.

What about Talia and a 3rd for WHE?

Edit: sorry Fronk.

Talia is untradable in my view. Wallis and Talia IMO have joined the 6 amigos who are untouchable.

We just cannot get both this off season and my preference is Carlisle.

Not to mention GWS are still trying to cut their list numbers.

In terms of getting another GWS player we might be better looking at a fringe player.

Not to mention WHE would attract bigger offers than what we could give him if we landed another big name.
