We have to improve our spine, I'm not against trading out a dwarf or two in order to get it done.
Even then I question how. None of the ones we can afford to lose (ie. not Dahlhaus, Libba, JJ) are worth much. None of them have enough runs on the board. Hrovat, Hunter, Honeychurch, Prudden, Fuller etc would all be worth an average return, with the latter two netting us nothing at all. If any of them prove to be worth something more significant then it likely means that they've cemented a spot in our best 22 and are contributing heavily to our side...it then becomes the question of whether we can afford to lose them.

Wouldn't include a top 22 player as well. If JJ were to drop out of the side that would probably be what Essendon would be happy with as well.
Preferably its just the pick which should be around 6 - 8.
Yeah I'd prefer that too. Just don't think Essendon would :). JJ, Hrovat, Hunter and Dickson are all players I'd be comfortable letting go in order to get Carlisle.

You gotta give to get....(unless you're Hawthorn)

JJ has been a target for the bombers for some time. If it came too it I would be comfortable in trading him along with our first rounder to build our spine.

If we trade our first two picks at the draft, where do we get picks to select players from that year?

Would we need to still pick 3 players at the draft then?
Port Adelaide started last years draft with pick 57 after losing their first two picks. We might be able to trade a fringe player out for a pick in the 40's. I'm not to concerned if we don't get a whole lot of trade options in over the offseason. But we absolutely have to try to start complementing the list we have built and best 22 KPP's are a priority. Carlisle down back, Walker up forward and our whole spine would be under the age of 25.

We would just have to use our 3rd rounder + 4th rounder and I think we have a F/S this year as well who is rated a late pick. Wouldn't matter if we have some really nice players who add to our 22 next season.

I guess that is true, I just wonder what type of players we'd look at with those picks because that late in the draft; there is no real best available
I don't think I'd tune into the draft if this was to happen, because our pick would take too long before it was read out heh

I wouldn't mind adding a really speedy small forward to the mix, as well as a real good mover on the outside who uses the ball well.

For those who are uncertain about Walker. Watch the first 4 minutes of this highlight package of last years Prelim.
Takes 3 really big contested marks at CHF and spends some minutes in the ruck.

We have so many smaller types now, we need one or two taller dynamic players, should've picked up Lamb or Menadue imo who would've fit that criteria.

There's always a slider in the 3rd or 4th, we got Honeychurch remember?

If we finish with a top 5 pick (which I would say is at least a 50/50 bet), it should be enough for Carlisle surely?
An out of contract Carlisle yes, if we had to add on steaknives then wesshould demand a player/3rd/4th rounder back

We drafted 6 kids last year from the national draft. 6. That's a lot. At some point we need to trust these guys to come through.

We don't need to be draft heavy again this year IMO. We have our core group from 18-22 years of age, and we need to complement that, rather than just drafting more kids into the bottleneck.

So let's back hrovat, hunter, McLean, Dale, Daniel, Webb and JJ to step up and provide the run and class that we need to add to the blue chip group (Libba, Dal, macrae, strings, bonti, Boyd).

If we think Carlisle is a big pierce we need to add (which we do) and he still fits the age profile (which he does), then our first rounder is on the table IMO

also, we can't be sure that someone else posted that
& that is why the Tweet has been deleted
Mate Fronk is taking the piss. From what I can recall, Fronk works in the player agent industry and knows his shit.
