What do we do with Minson? He is signed up for 2016.

He looked a sorry sight in the VFL on Saturday. There was one ruck contest in particular where he just gave up, didn't even raise his arms above his shoulders. For me, that was pretty damning.
I really feel for Minno. He does some stupid stuff, he's a big lummox but the Macca era aside (and I point no fingers either way) he genuinely loves, seriously loves, playing for the club. He came to Darwin in 2005 and I got talking to him about the clubs future. He was as hungry for success then as he is 10 years on. Poor bloke just doesn't have the game style that Bev is after. I would like to see him given the same respect Cooney was i.e the ability to work out what he wants to do and for us to facilitate it even in a Biggs type deal of necessary. If he wants to stay and he could enjoy it he is great for the Mumford type smash and bash contests and still has matchups in the big league. I could see him being the next player welfare manager if he wanted to although I can also see him taking on a very senior role in the AFLPA if he decided he had had enough.

I used to REALLY like Trent McKenzie and wished he was a Bulldog for his first 3-4 years. Every time I watch him now, he disappoints me. He's actually a very average defender and is constantly out-bodied and lets his man out the back too easily etc. His kicking is obviously a nice feature, but the long down field barrels to nobody aren't exactly high %. He would just be a depth guy for us IMO.
I think that is more a confidence/structure problem with GC.

Even if he can't make it as a defender we could use him as a 190cm winger, linking up out wide & kicking over zones to Boyd in the goal square.

would we get pick similar for Higgins from last year when he left ?
If we did that would be a mockery of the system.

People need to take off the rose coloured glasses. Ayce is a joke among other teams' fans, and rightly so. He has been plain bad for many years.

Things can change quickly, as they already have several times with our ruck situation this year. Minson's contracted, so let's see how he finishes the year off, and play it from there. All options (stay, go, retire) in play for him at this stage I reckon.

Does he work back hard enough for this role ?

I'm sure he would under Bev.

I think he played as a midfielder in the TAC cup (others might remember better).

I do remember a highlights package of him pinging goal after goal from outside 50 and being really jealous that he was gc bound.
I have no doubt that he can kick it, I'm just worried he is a little too much of a one-way runner. No point chasing him in the trade period to sit in the 2nd's until he can be bothered to chase back.

I just see him as a one trick pony. I mean, Fuller has a decent kick on him, given enough time and space. He's delivered some nice passes in the VFL, but he's not getting a game in the firsts at the minute (or even is close to getting one).

Excuse the intrusion Doggies , but a number of Pies have been discussing just how good your club is doing at the moment, and how in our collective opinion you are playing the most attractive brand of fotoy in the competition. but a query that has come up is would you consider taking Brian Lake back on a 1 year contract in2016 to bolster your capacity to handle power forwards in a tilt at the premiership next year?
Now that the Pies seem out hoping you guys can take it out this year

Nah more likely to target a player like Henderson than go after a dinosaur

About as much chance of that happening as taking Griffen back. I know we did it with Monty but you need to draw the line somewhere.

Extremely doubtful can't see it happening or the point of doing it lake has spent more time on the sidelines than playing recently

Henderson can't contain the true power forwards. what if Roughhead, Pav or Kennedy got a hold of Talia in a prelim final this sep, would that sway you?
Lake is still matching it with the best forwards this year IMO.
He is too old I'd rather bring in a 25-26 that still has 6-7-8 more years in them than a guy who is well over 30 unlikely to last more than a year and has had injury problems.

Haven't you heard of a guy called Dale Morris AA defender and still just as good as Lake- and a top bloke as well.

No he's not. He has never been that great at 1 on 1 defending.

He is great at reading the ball and is great in a backline that plays a team zone set up, but go watch any 1 on 1 duels against THawk from Saturday night & he will have lost 80%

Morris was always our preffered stopper with Lake floating across to intercept.

I would back Henderson 1v1 over Lake any day.

Crameri would love a mid who could kick 70m. He would kick 7 goals a game running into the goal square.

If Hawthorn won't offer Lake another contract, then why do you think that we would? Especially given the circumstances of his departure and that all of the List Management staff at the Bulldogs (who were pissed off mightily at Lake) are still in place at our club. Extremely remote chance in my opinion.

yeah I understand he would not be popular at the kennel ,but I just asked the question for exactly that reason. would you forgive him if he may be the difference between a pship and not in 2016
