I thought they just said someone offered one of our big men a $400k contract up north?
I know GWS were offering Campbell big money, they're north of us. putting 2 and 2 together to get 10 perhaps?
As you're ITK and one of our valuable posters here, if you're right GWS are still interested and Campbell's value grows towards the end of the year then that's a hell yes from me if they offer enough and we can prise a decent pick/decent player from their farm. They have a heap of developing rucks, but a KPP from them like Stewart would be awesome imo.

Perhaps they're sceptical on Mumford's durability now?

That info was before Campbell was getting games with us so who knows what effect that has. Not sure I'd swap Tommy for Stewart.

Always liked Campbell myself, just his tank that was a problem. Think we have a long term ruck on our hands. Love his contested work. I wouldn't trade him out nor would I trade an established ruck in.

Just listened to that sound grab about Ayce. I think they've miss construed the figures. hey said an 'offer upwards of $400k over 3 years'. thats not PER year. The big news out of that could just be a 3 year dealon approx 180k a year. Nothing stellar. I'd take it if I were Ayce though. 3 years is a long time.

Yeah sounds plausible surely we wouldn't give Ayce 3 years..he should cut and run...

If Campbell was at another club and doing what he's doing people would be begging for us to chase him. He's a very good player. Also young for a ruckmen.

Fair enough

Hopefully they're still interested though if it's true we are really into Stefan Martin. Well lets upgrade on Stewart to McCarthy then

In response to no one in particular: If Minson & Cordy go I'd rather we draft or rookie a ruck and go into next year with Campbell, Roughead and Boyd, than pick up Martin.
As a back up option if not going after Martin, then yes true, Gach Nyuon in the draft or something? Or take a fringe developing ruck from one of the many ruck farms like Freo, WCE, Sydney, GWS, Hawthorn etc
nar not a Free Agent, hes a restricted free agent next year
just out of contract this year
Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait

WTF?

Cordy is being paid enough to be a RFA? Sounds just as bad as Robbie Tarrant/Robbie Warnock being on big bucks imo
Is McGovern a wa boy? If not I'd be throwing the house at him.
Yes, his old man was an inaugural Freo player but only played 63 games for them before he retired, they'd be shattered (like the Reids/Hannebery/Rance etc for us)

And no chance they let him go :p
I used to REALLY like Trent McKenzie and wished he was a Bulldog for his first 3-4 years. Every time I watch him now, he disappoints me. He's actually a very average defender and is constantly out-bodied and lets his man out the back too easily etc. His kicking is obviously a nice feature, but the long down field barrels to nobody aren't exactly high %. He would just be a depth guy for us IMO.
Kolodjashnij is miles ahead of him and has effectively replaced him as that running, high half back accumulator/distributor, McKenzie's output this year has been nearly halved from previous years output
I'm still in shock that someone would offer Cordy over $400k a year over 3. I like Ayce. If he was 15cm shorter I think he'd be a handy player. Just doesn't suit his body. Extremely likeable guy from the very limited time I've seen him and chatted. If it is the case, I hope he takes the cash. He'd still be loved here and might get more chances at this other club.

Also helps with our list management decisions. If Ayce moves on, I think Minson would clearly move on which leaves us two ruckmen in Campbell and Roughead.

Who's a depth ruckman we could snare?
Plenty at Freo, WCE and GWS, maybe Sydney too (Nankervis/Naismith)
I see him being the best key defender in the league in the next 18 months King. Amazing athlete. Crazy aggressive. Super speed. Great timing. Killer left foot. He can take on the nimble guys like Buddy, cameron and Roughie, and the monsters like Hawkins as well IMO. BEAST.
He does seem to be in the Josh Gibson mould, I know you like Haynes too who is similar also.
They said one of our talls was being offered 400k by one of the northern teams and Cordy was bought up immediately after. I of course think it could be Grant to Brisbane since every seems to think that he's a tall except for Bulldog supporters and they were keen on him a couple of years ago.

I'd prefer to keep Grant of course and I wouldn't mind retaining Cordy if Minson leaves.
Losing Grant would be Higgins MK2 if he left, Brisbane might get the best out of him, but he'd probably play more forward than midfield there as they have Hanley and Mayes with similar attributes to him.
Just signed a new deal for next year. If it is him they can GGF.
Agreed, we need him for a few years as it's only him and Boyd as our KPF stocks
Probably still prefer Tommy to Mccarthy. He's Stewart Crameri with an extra 2 vertical inches.
I'll take those 2 extra inches every day of the week in finals :)

I just think if we roll with Campbell/Roughead for main rucks going forward, then boosting our KPP stocks with readymade types somehow is vital as Roughead would most likely not be used as a defender any more. Our KPP stocks outside of the rucks (Crameri/Morris/Stringer are mediums) have all played under 30-35 games and are in their 4th AFL seasons at best currently and are very inexperienced.

Could be the difference in challenging as early as next year, or say in 2018 when our core KPP stocks are nearing 100 games.

Personally, we have to challenge Hawthorn this year though somehow, things seem to be falling in our favour currently with other teams injuries/form issues, particularly if we roll WCE this week with their injuries and Sydney drops another game this week with everything on the line for GWS and GWS have 2 winnable percentage boosting games after that, so the incentive for them to win is very high this week.

Nah I thought they definitely insinuated it was 400K and a 3 year deal as in around 400K a year. The scoffing and geez he would have to take that etc confirmed that in my mind they were talking reasonable money. 180K is very low for a footballer with 6+ years experience to try and poach.

For someone battling to keep his spot on the list, it is reasonable as a 2nd chance saloon though with the incentive to perform imo, gives him an extra 3 years in the system also.

I wouldn't call it "poaching" though, us getting Crameri for etc the way we did was poaching

To many of the Gold Coast players play on their own terms to garner enough interest.
Hmm wonder who recruited them ?
They've got way to many " Jordan Mcmahons"
Spot on :)

Jordan McMahons and Josh Hills/Brennan Stacks at Gold Coast

McMahons
Harbrow, Kolodjashnij, McKenzie, Malceski, Lemmens, Saad

Hills/Stacks
Martin, Bennell, Sumner, A Hall, J Garlett, Matera, Miller

I might be a bit hard on some who are very talented and will be good AFL footballers, but they are very similar types to the players who once graced the Dogs under the Clayton era, reminds me of the Brendan McCartney "inside mids" mantra with Clayton's small outside flanker/pocket types and they already had Krakouer who quit on them and some other kid was there too who quit.

Those 2005-2006 drafts may have cost us the flag in 09-10 with Everitt, Hill, Stack, Lynch and Harbrow were all taken after we took Higgins, Addison and Aker who all played similar positions creating an overload of small/medium flanker types when we already had Murph, Gilbee, Hahn, McMahon, Johnno, Robbins etc when we really needed KPPs and midfield depth with only Ward taken the next year and KPPs taken in 2008 and not doing anything in prelim years.

To be fair to Clayton, Harbrow was decent though as a rookie pick and Adam Saad looks to be his next rookie gem. He punts on many speculative types and while some come off, most don't.

My worry going forward is the inexperienced talls we have, it's good we play with taller structures than what we did under Eade now, but we still have a heap of medium types who we rely on currently and if the talls don't come on by the time our midfield is completely dominant then we may blow a golden chance, hence why getting in 1 or 2 experienced talls will help our list build in the next 2 years.

Also 84 goals from Stringer and Dicko, 36 goals from Crameri and Reddy, 29 goals from bont and luke d while Toyd still on 16 goals

Well done Simon, Bevo and Jason, you bloody legends
Didnt realise we'd gotten that many goals out of Bonts and Dahl. You throw in Wally and that's 43 goals out of probably our 3 best, starting midfielders. That's huge.

On a side note Dahl is still so underrated. Hes been around for a while so hes seen as quite old and experienced compared to our others but hes played this whole season so far as a 22 year old. He's still a kid.

He should sign before even looking at the $$ figure. He wont get an opportunity like that anywhere else.

He just doesnt have a spot in our team, but if Eade sees something in him he should take it - having the coach believe in him enough to give him that contract length might bring out his best.

If your going to make up a rumour it needs to be a little bit more believable than Cordy getting 400k a year. What next a large multi year deal for Fuller.

Takes the easy option all the time. I thought he was better last week but poor today. But it'll be hard to drop anyone out of a 100 point win.
Interesting opinion. I feel like occasionally I see Biggs do little steps or turns that remind me of how Murphy moves which probably gets me over excited. I have high hopes for him though and I feel like he's showed more this year than I thought he would.

Biggs has played in a couple of finals games with a very mature Swans team too. It may not mean a lot, but it can't hurt having for our young, inexperienced team with most guys heading into their first final. I still forget he has only played 10 games, and most of those with the Swans were through the middle too. Is only going to get better and better in his HBF role.

Grant close to signing a two year deal according to my friend who grew up with him

*inb4 the classic mate rumor
all my info has been good this year
Would have preferred a one year deal after last time, but I trust Bev and the coaching staff / leadership group to keep him switched on and playing hard. A nice X factor to have on this team.
