I see him being the best key defender in the league in the next 18 months King. Amazing athlete. Crazy aggressive. Super speed. Great timing. Killer left foot. He can take on the nimble guys like Buddy, cameron and Roughie, and the monsters like Hawkins as well IMO. BEAST.
You sold me Fronky, go get him.... :)

Grant close to signing a two year deal according to my friend who grew up with him

*inb4 the classic mate rumor
all my info has been good this year
Grant has been bloody good of late and deserves a two year deal in my opinion. Thanks for the heads up Vital. :thumbsu:

I guess now with Grant his value= output. In that not a lot of clubs will come knocking so we get a player who's been in the system for 8 years who is starting to play consistently and in his prime for a below average to average price of a normal 8 year player. Still much more than rookie prices of course but at least he's AFL standard where as rookies are always a gamble for output. We're going to have big problems balancing our list in the coming years and Grant gives us a contract that can provide value for quality.

As you're ITK and one of our valuable posters here, if you're right GWS are still interested and Campbell's value grows towards the end of the year then that's a hell yes from me if they offer enough and we can prise a decent pick/decent player from their farm. They have a heap of developing rucks, but a KPP from them like Stewart would be awesome imo.

Perhaps they're sceptical on Mumford's durability now?
Maybe they are just collecting Dogs players for their next lost dogs home ad. It's worked well for them so far.

I do think its a bit of a myth with the whole Grant only plays well in a new contract year. His two best season 2013 & 2015 while both contract years are sandwiched between 2014 which was a complete write off. He was injured in the pre-season and spent 4 months on the sidelines with a serious foot injury, then in his third AFL game back he cops a broken nose. The match before that injury he played very well. Terrible luck.

I'm very comfortable with him getting 2 years.

Agreed. It's the same as the 'milestones games' myth. Teams/players do not need any more encouragement to play well than simply to play well.

Anyone that has played recreational Tuesday night sport will tell you that.

I think it's a throwback to time when the game wasn't professional. Motivation was a big factor, the best coaches were the best motivators, and milestone games were a big motivating factor.

Now players spend hours doing specialist drills, have fitness and conditioning from the best minds in the world, spend hours footage, and are absolute professionals. A single milestone game or the motivation of it being a "contract year" isn't really going to be more significant than their other professional preparation that they do.

Why would Aish want to go to Carlton? He'll probably get consistent game time but wouldn't he want to go to a team that is either travelling well (Collingwood kinda) or back home?

We'll put it like this, there are irreconcilable differences with a currently listed Dogs player. The chances of him landing at the kennel are non-existent.
Ohhhhhhhhh.

Well **** him then, let's stick with our boy.

The player still has to agree to the trade and I cannot see Aish wanting to go to a basketcase like Carlton unless they're paying up big time.

Cash money. Always underestimated when players are considering where to go. Many players take pay cuts to stay at clubs but rarely(if ever) do players leave for less cash(And no Lake didn't for the last time - he got a longer contract which netted him more money than he would have got at the Dogs.

When you're 21 and talented you've still got a whole career in front of you. Less the 5 years ago St Kilda drew a grand final for example.

Irreconcileable differences with a currently listed Dogs player? It's all so obvious now.

Carlisle was wanting a nickname. So he quietly hits up BT, asking him if during a game he can call Jake "the package", because Carlisle really likes that nickname. However, because BT is a useless muppet that struggles with names, he thought it was Jake Stringer that he was supposed to call "the package". Carlisle, watching angrily on TV, contacted a gypsy to forever curse Stringer for this transgression. However Stringer is fine because the gypsy ended up cursing some bloke called Jesse Stringer.

As such Carlisle swore to never play for the Dogs as long as Stringer is on the list.
