He doesn't take the place as small forward ( yes i know he kicked 4 on debut) but he is not a great kick lets be honest. Also no chance he plays of the half back line as his skills are not up to it. Therefore he pushes out Jong (who is very Clay like) and Grant who are already replaced by Libba, Stevens and JJ. How disrespectful to Moyd. Your kidding yourself
Totally agree FoochPackage, I cannot see any place for a fully fit Clay while Libba and Wallis r in the team. He is a wrecking ball but is one paced, very average skills and honestly should only play as an inside mid which i think he could be a B grader. Libba and Wal r A graders and my preference would be to surround them with mids with toe and elite skill.

I dont think its worth it, we got him for pick 21 in a strong draft and he's shown hes up to AFL level. I dont think hes lost his value.
Would you accept a straight swap of the Rat for the Dee's second? It's currently pick 24, could be a few spots lower in the end.

Maybe depends on what Dal thinks he can get at that pick?

So supposedly Hrovats been dealing with an ankle injury and is having surgery on it, would explain a bit. Watch him step up next year. We wont be trading him unless we get a hell of a deal, 6 pick upgrade in the 2nd round? Yeah righto
All the while, pretty much a weekly feature of our best 3 in the VFL.

Lots to work with when he's injury free and another preseason under his belt.

Yeah pretty much your last point, depends on how we rate the draft.

I wouldnt push him out for that not a chance but if he was adament he wanted a trade to Melbourne well Id probably take it, although I'd push for their first for our first + something else small.

Yes, as fully fit as you can be following what hes been through.
Stevens, Libba, Wallis are well ahead of clay. Also of the opinion that he is now behind Webb, Mclean and Daniel. Time will tell
You're right time will tell however if fully fit he plays best 22 IMO..... He has something that you just can't replace and that's a will to win like no other on our list... He's that bad it's detrimental to his health. Every team can find a spot for a player like that specially one like ours.

Either way I'm going to enjoy the ride....... :)

Unfortunately 'fully fit' is unlikely to happen.

Coming in later here I know - but why is it you guys aren't interested in Carlisle? Is it asking salary?

If not - he seems to nail a need for you guys, with potentially only the ruck missing

Other than that - you guys are left with an amazingly balanced list at a very good age to challenge for a number of years

Just seems odd is all...

Let's just say that recruiting him specifically would get several of our players' noses out of joint. He's a fantastic fit for us in terms of talent and attributes, but personally/culturally there are a few factors that have caused us to (supposedly) lose our interest.

According to many reputable posters on this board, the club and playing group isn't crazy about his character or extracurricular activities.

Jong is like the JaVale McGee of the AFL. Capable of brilliance but inconsistency and common brain fades are his downfall.

As I am a Mavs man, I will be hoping both can reach their very high ceiling consistently.
Except they are opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to confidence in their ability...

Not to mention they both have a mother with a media presence and notoriety that eclipses their own

For some reason i thought melbourne and stkilda were in the 2nd / 3rd last spots, but yeah. If Rat is very keen to stay, then its all moot anyway. If he wants to move for better opportunity, however, it makes sense to help him out. Im all for competition for spots, but we cant play all those smaller, slower mids in the same team - sooner or later one or two will be traded or delisted.

Reminds me of the moment in the Adelaide game, where Ling just watched the ball go over his head, for it to be marked by Adelaide behind him

I wouldn't want him, purely because of the WADA situation, too risky

I think he would be a good fit, and would work well under Bevo, however others than different

If he's available with our last pick, or even if we have a preseason draft selection, would we entertain the idea of drafting Mitch Brown? He was impressive for Sandy at the weekend. He had another chance to shine this week in the Preliminary Final against Box Hill.

I think we will entertain the idea. Might even draft him.

A positive with Brown is he should know Hamling's game pretty well, having played together for 3 years

I'd prefer him forward though if we do happen to look at him, still a bit skinny but reads the game well, could be the answer to that cheap CHF mobile type we want.

Prefer Redpath to be frank. I feel like Red is becoming more mobile, good mark and starting to impact games for longer. Brown might not be a bad Rookie pick up though.
