I understand they are different. But regardless they can't all play together if you assume Daniel will go past them both.
It's not that I don't think we can play 3 of them - I just don't think we can play 5 or 6 of them if you consider Dahlhaus and Mclean best 22 players (I do from 2016) and consider JJ & Clay Smith are smallish types in AFL terms.

Bailey Dale, Prudden, Hamilton & Libba are also shorter than 6 foot - some play different positions but if Wally is resting forward this year Libba may rest forward next year.

I really do think Hrovat is AFL standard but if we get something good in return, well you have to give quality to get quality.

I have questions on Watts fragility also. But I ask you, which of the two is potentially a match winner? I think Watts has lots of potential, it's tapping the potential. Remember he has been at a very ordinary club from day 1.
I'm with you Zeph , I know we are both going to cop it , but Watts badly needs another club.
The problem for me is he is going to cost too much. I wouldn't do a straight swap for Hrovat , but that's what it will take I think. As an example if it was Honey and a 3rd rounder I would seriously think about it.

I struggle to see how honeychurch sticks in the league unfortunately. Hope I'm wrong. Love his 'tude.
Thats where I see someone like Toby McLean overtake him in a very short space of time. More tricks and is a very very good hitup kick inside forward 50. Very similar to Hunter in that regard.

Unfortunately I think we still went too inside with a lot of our 2011 - 2013 picks and that the collateral may be someone like Hrovat. Unfortunate for someone like Clay Smith too, because of injury he is probably not in the first 30 selected.

Agree. Honeychurch is extremely limited but has a fabulous hunger and work ethic. When you are short and struggle to kick and handball to AFL standard it's not enough though.

Watts isn't a bastard on field, he just isn't mean enough for his type of play to stand up in pressure games.
In ordinary H&A matches he can look fantastic, but he's not the type of player I think we should be looking at.

For the right price I'd take a punt on him. Maybe in a less contested game style he could thrive. A coach he tells himself to back himself could be good for Jack.

I think where our list is at we can certainly afford to take some risks by trading in a recycled player (for some late draft picks) who we might turn around.

Ask yourself the question... Can anybody see the potential that our 2015 picks overtake guys like McLean, Daniel, Dale, Webb etc not to mention a whole stack of other players. Dally has drafted in so much good talent its hard to see where late picks this season get a look in for a long long time.

I know its speculative but we need some smart trades this offseason (whomever that may involve).

Man, I would do it just for the look on Gary Lyons face if he came good.

We need to go through every opposition list and find out who plays their best football at etihad stadium. Home ground specialists!!!
Technically we should have beat Fremantle, but for a late turnover from
Mitch Wallis from memory and the less said about the melee in the St
Kilda game at half time thanks Jake the better. So that means we could
have easily won 13 out of 13 at Etihad, but finals are not played at
Etihad and rarely in Victoria it seems anymore. I would prefer a game
plan that stood up anywhere whether the width of the "G" or the tight
wingless expanses of simmonds stadium.

Neither of the McKay brothers are falling to the mid 40's unless there's something seriously wrong with them like they test horribly at the combine.

Jack Watts would be worth the punt. Far more to him than meets the eye he is one intelligent young man. Just needs to focus his energy on football. If any coach can get that from him it's probably Luke Beveridge. People say he's a spud, i just don't see that really. Not his fault he went no. 1. Pick 80 and he'd just be another honest footballer plying his trade.
