A lot of interest from Suns posters in Lobbe, they're hoping Port will give them him for Dixon which would be a solid straight swap

As I said yesterday, I have a sneaky suspicion the prototype ruck we want is Nicholls. Wonder if it is him and perhaps we could get involved in this deal somehow?
Would be stoked if that was the case. Carlisle and Nicholls in one offseason, wouldn't even care about who we got in the draft.

What do you believe we could offer for Nicholls & still retain our current first round selection?

Next years first round selection on its own doesn't seem like it'd be enough

He's worth about a mid first rounder 8-14, if we get Carlisle then I can't see us retaining our first rounder. Minson and our second would be unders though, doubt it get done, best deal would be our 1st and 3rd rounders + Minson for their 2nd (low-mid 20s) and Nicholls

To be honest though, Clayton the **** owes us. Nicholls is 23, shown a heap of promise, gets around the ground extremely well and he's from Yarrawonga but studied at St Kevins played TAC Cup for Sandy.

Imo no one is talking about him and is a definite under the radar contender because of Smith and Gorringe links out, but if GC want Lobbe then that changes everything.

I've been talking about Nicholls for years, js ;)

Next years first & this years second round selection + Minson

But only offer that after we get Carlisle for this years first of course ..

Take it to the bank sir!

That leaves thus year's draft very dry. Unless we manage a pick in the 30s for Talia, our first pick would be in the third round.

It's hilarious how people on the main board are already saying that Boyd ain't worth it and will force our other young players out.
If Tom Boyd is on what he is on. How much do you think some of our
other guns and future guns will be on in four years time as i don't
believe any are on seven year deals ? No need to come at me as
others say, but it is interesting don't you think. On a side note the
great Marcus Bontempelli had his picture used on an article a few
months back titled " who will be the first two million dollar man".;)

Ist rounder + 3rd rounder and Minson for Nicholls and their 2nd

We trade for Carlisle for 2 x 2nd rounders then (21 + 29 likely to be something like 23 + 32)

We hope we get something back for Talia also

Looking at Nicholls stats, he played 15 games this season and had only 2 poor games where he dipped under 10 possies, he got at least 10 possies in 13 games. He is a ferocious tackling machine also, averaging 4 tackles a game and in 11 games he had at least 20 hitouts, cracked the SC ton 5 times also. Heaps of upside with him and he's getting to an age where he'll mature.

Big No to Nicholls. Not a huge fan and not at the cost that we speculate we would have to give up.

Prefer a free agent who we get to keep our draft picks as well.

Or Martin.
I know you said yesterday that you wanted an older ruck like Martin, but what is your knock on Nicholls? I know he's been a little injury-prone, but he was durable this season and he gets around the ground and gets the footy, tackles too, excellent 2nd efforts.

Hmm injuries and IMO he lacks the strength to match the big boys in the middle. Gets pushed off it to easy. He has talent though no question.

I'd prefer someone like Grundy if it was a young ruck(who we could never get), has a large bit of campaigner in him that teammates would enjoy having .

Also I don't really want to spend a first on a ruck when I think someone like Leuenburger could do a similar standard job for 3 - 5 seasons and then trade in another when we need to.

I think calls for "we need a ruck who fits our age profile are overblown" I'd just get a ruck for the current and then continue to trade for them when required. Also another 21 - 24 year old means we are going to need another stack of money for a player who reaches his peak at the same time as our other stars.

Heard on SEN Martin is staying at Brisbane but nothing on their board about that?

Easily. It's made everything else this week seem dull.

In other news, Zac Clarke dropped. What do people think?
Clarke only if fairly cheap, but we get other needs on top of that such as a KPD/KPF

Don't see much value in him now to be honest, though he probably needs to leave Freo to get a decent shot at it.

Id say kpd is another need but that plus Clarke would sort us. Would like to see him ruck more minutes

I really, really, really don't rate Clarke. Every time I see him play I see a very average ruckman (hidden by being secondary ruck) who offers very little as a forward. Not a fan.
