Not sure if this has been raised, but just looking at a tweet last week from Mark Stevens, Grant's manager back on deck tomorrow so if something is going to happen we may start hearing more whispers shortly.

Reports on Friday were strong that Blues had secured Docherty and just run out of time to lodge papers. As nothing happened today, and Grant's manager back tomorrow, it wouldn't surprise me if we haven't heard the end of this one.

Just my 2c.
Both Age and Sun now reporting it is going to happen, but still haggling over picks 28 or 29.

Hun saying Brisbane want to get the Polec deal done first

I hope the only thing to come out of Grant's managers return is he organises his client's re-signing. Grant for Docherty was a promising deal. Grant for 28 in a weak draft is down right not worth it. (Unless we use it to get Garlett.)

And I definitely think Clay Smith will be a star. Was playing great footy before the injury. His kicking obviously needs improvement but he can kick goals and plays surprisingly well on the outside for a player labeled an inside mid with poor skills.
It's a bit odd, isn't it?

His field kicking/disposal is average to poor, but his goal kicking is really good, often under extreme pressure.

Odd contrast.

DFA hasn't been signed by anyone yet? Strange? Thought it would be a straight forward thing.
If he does stay, I would like to see him assigned the responsibility of the oppositions best running defender each week. Then try hurt them the other way with his overhead marking ability. Needs to work on set shots too.

Anyone got any info on the Crameri trade? Nothing seems to be happening - very quite. Someone mentioned to me GWS are now keen if he slips to PSD. Dons should take pick 22 and then trade for Dal Santo - seems idiotic.

GWS still need to work out a deal with Swans so Mummy can join them or take Mummy in the PSD
which takes them out of the running for him.

Roos is the bloke that would want people playing for him so he won't go for Crameri
Saints have enough forwards.

Out of contract Docherty is going for pick 28, out of contract Crameri (with asada hanging over his head) is worth more than pick 22, **** essendon
bombers want a second rounder for Gumbleton
there's a reason why we don't wanna deal with them.

The way I taught myself to kick a footy as a kid was during 'kick to kick' at recess - off a couple of steps like you would if you were kicking for goal. I am a deadeye dick up to 35m, but the action I have is totally wrong for kicking on the run - couldnt hit the broadside of a barn if Im moving at any speed.

Perhaps Clays action is the same. If you have a kick-to-kick style you tend to kick up and under - its very accurate over short distances but you get no penetration.

Paul Connors (who is Gumbleton's manager) said that even he thinks it's a bit much for gumbleton.
Think maybe he finds them annoying.

EDIT: quote included.

It is understood the Dockers are still assessing Gumbleton's results and are yet to commit to trading for him.

It has been suggested Fremantle could trade selection No.33 in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft for Gumbleton, but the 25-year-old's manager, Paul Connors, described that as "a bit generous".

Meanwhile at Essendon, goalkicker Stewart Crameri is still attempting to move to the Western Bulldogs, who have offered the Bombers their pick No.22.

Essendon, however, believes the 25-year-old is worth more than that second-round selection.

I'm almost the opposite. My coach makes me do 50 on the left and 50 on the right from a standing start every session. I'm not a poor kick, but on the run I am 100% more comfortable. Same with kicking for goal. I play Center half forward and can pretty comfortably kick the ball 50-55 on the run, but if I'm lining up on the 50 with a set shot, my action just doesn't cut it and it gets touched right on the bloody line. Every. Single. Time.

And then my Bomber mates are the first to complain that they have 'crap' picks and their future could be affected by it. Idiots.

I remember speaking to Shannon Grant at a function during the year and he said that he had been personally been working with Smithy (the left footer) on his field kicking penetration and height (keeping it lower). But he said his kicking has improved from his TAC cup days in a short space of time and reckons Smithy will be a gun-mid rotating forward in 2-4 years.
