Meh, watching him get outbodied, outmanoeuvred and outmuscled time and time again in that ressies final V Essendon makes me believe he's not as good a one-on-one defender as he thinks he is, and he sure as shit struggles with the zone, so I'm not crying about his departure, let alone without adding his treachery in.
Yea but it was like he wasn't really trying later on

Cale Hooker is a F/A next year, lets chase him

although I expect Essendon will demand our first picks & Easton Wood as adequate compensation

& we will reply, there will be no Wood for your Hooker

:drunk:
But if he's a F/A they get to request nothing unless he's restricted and they force a trade.

Agree entirely Dannnnnnn. Have no idea about the draft. But the general concept of not having a top 20 pick, 2 years in a row worries me.
Not sure that means much in our team's context. We traded in TBoyd last year who was a clear number 1 pick only in his second year. And we have a truck load of very highly talented kids already in the team.

Edit: we are also going to have to get used to no high picks if we hope to be on top of the ladder for the next decade! :D

Gives us a bit of ammo to try to upgrade some picks in a stronger draft. But yeah, under charged for sure...
It has me curious actually, about who has highly rated academy picks next year
that might want to trade out their high picks for points again

I must be missing something. Clearly the common consensus is that this years draft is really poor in regards to depth. Why are so many late picks flying around? For anyone that says academy points, don't picks stop having a value in the 70's or slightly earlier?

Hate the pick 11 trade. Think it is stupidity...

... But then what would I know? Have to put your faith in the people in charge. But man I dislike that trade.
Lets say Dal thinks Ben McKay is the possible ruck/forward that we know he has been on the lookout for. hypothetical like.

Before the trade with Carlton, we take Ben McKay with pick 11. Its a reach, but we cant risk him not being there at pick 30.

Now we take him with 21, and get another pick right after. How is that not a better scenario?

You might have your heart set on some player who is being talked up in the phantom drafts as being available at 11, but when has Dalrymple ever taken a player that was talked up in the phantoms as being available for our early picks? never ever, thats when.

I think a lot of people are making themselves feel better about Talia by saying he has no value.

He is a key defender who is competent at playing a lock down role but can't understand zone defence. This is still valuable at AFL level, which was evident as at least 3 clubs were looking at him.

We have been majorly screwed by the AFL on this one. Why am I not surprised.
It's got a lot more to do with the way he treated our club than anything. Whether he play as a lockdown is debatable
