Fourth rounders aren't worth many points, right? We already have three (including our own) in 2016, why not stockpile picks that are worth more???

It's got a lot more to do with the way he treated our club than anything. Whether he play as a lockdown is debatable
Yeah, my gripe with the Talia trade is simply that the AFL investigation forced us to trade Talia for a draft pick equivalent to Michael's value to us, where most trades are calculated with a net value closer to the value of a player to the club pursuing him.

Oh come on, its not like they did it by accident. Obviously the player Dal rates and would have picked at 11 is just as likely to be there at 21, but now we have an extra pick in the 2nd round. How could that not be obvious?
Unlike many others I'm not completely in love witH Dal and see him as the messiah

Al I know is everyone that is anyone says its a weak draft after about the first 15 so to trade down out of that area makes very little sense to me

BUT let's see how it rolls all I'm saying is at the moment I'm disappointed with what we have done this draft

Not one to jump up and down about these things, but:

1. I don't like not having a first round pick 2 years in a row.
2. I don't like losing an AFL ready key defender (Talia) from a list already thin in that area and not replacing him with another one.
3. I don't think our list needs another four 18 year olds.

I wonder if we won't nominate Macpherson at all, and just use picks 21, 22 and 30 and then either re-sign Grant with our 5th spot or sign a mature delisted free agent.
Maybe
Perhaps we take 21, 22 and 30 as live picks to the draft; offer Grant a contract; rookie Macpherson.

That would suggest that we think that Grant is better than anyone we could get with pick 51. Probably fair enough. The alternative is that we use 51 on Macpherson and delist Grant.
Wouldn't mind Gach Nyuon at 51 as a project player. Doubt he will get through to rookie draft.

It looks to me like we have our eye on a smokey or 2. Further, it will be someone who we consider best available at that pick where best for us means having the character and talent as well as the work ethic and desire for self improvement to go well in Bevo's system. Maybe we also want the 2 picks because we have a mature ager in mind......Be prepared for surprises, I'd say (just my opinion).

Apparently there is a small ginger nut half back flanker from S.A that kicks left foot tracer bullets we have been watching all year .

A LOT of people saying top 3 are standouts, maybe a small step down to 4-6, then level from there to about pick 35 where it drops off a cliff. I think our first 3 picks are just fine.

Right, ultimately its all down to picking the right players - any strategy works if you are picking the right players. And he obviously has a player in mind. This man isnt afraid to pull the trigger on the player he wants - we know that. (Howard!!!!) So if he has another 'reach' up his sleeve it makes perfect sense to trade down first.

Talia trade is a relationship trade, no doubt. Maintaining good trade relationships have netted us the likes of Biggs and Stevens for nothing. It's a good thing to have. This cements a positive trade relationship with Sydney.
100% accurate and absolutely the right thing to do. A good will trade for sure.
