But then wouldn't the swans need to use their first as part of that (which is before our picks) resulting in a no change to when our pick is?
Occasionally it'll happen that way, yeah. But if for example a bid comes before one or more of our picks, and that club's next pick isn't 'til afterwards, we'll be pushed back. I'm not great at explaining it but hopefully that makes a bit of sense, haha.

Right. didnt think of that. Since academy players are effectively off-limits as far as we are concerned, any picks used to buy them doesnt shrink our available talent pool. So you want those clubs to use high draft picks on them, preferably before your high draft pick.

But because those clubs have traded down the order, they have given their high draft picks to other clubs that will use them to shrink the available talent pool by drafting non-academy players.

grrrrr.

Is Matt Watson as useless as he seems to be?? Big boy with a nice left peg.

Really need another mature ruckman for depth as well.
Matthew Watson is as slow as treacle, technically i am hoping we get
Michael Hartley at pick 30 but the draft is like dominoes . There will be
good options for a KPD at probably our first four picks.

Imagine the meltdown on this board if we went and drafted three inside mids with 20, 21 and 30.

Or 3 small forwards

Just smalls full stop

Has to be a Roughead, Jones, Cordy type draft, but with a Dalrymple hit factor touch to it so someone to be a star. Hopefully all of them.

I know everyone loves Jmac around here and he has done a great job re-signing the young guns, but I've got to admit I'm concerned if we really were trying to bundle up a heap of picks to get Lobbe. Add to the fact that he offered Lonergan $500k as a 30 year old and also went hard for Casboult last year, yeah I must say I have some reservations about declaring him a gun list manager. Think the 11 for 20,21 trade will either be a master stroke or something we will have the pitch forks out for in a few years. I don't really like it but am happy to back Del in, but the 3rd round and 4th round swap at the end leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Fully expected to get howled down for doubting him, but that's my view.

Anyway thinking about the 11 for 20&21, it occurred to me that it will restrict our trading of future first round picks in the future due to the rule of "must draft 2 first round picks within 4 years rule". Ie let's say O'meara nominates us next year (long shot) we couldn't offer our next 2 first round picks as that would make 3 years where we wouldn't have a 1st round pick. How do we feel about that?

Got luck with f/s in libbas year
The last few years of trading where conducted under the guidance of Brendan Mac
I fear we will now revert to the Howard years

E- for trade period
You mean the same year we were lucky to pick up those father/sons Luke Dahlhaus and Jason Johannisen in the Rookie draft? What luck Dalrymple had with them!

What's the bet we get at least one more bloke under 175cm short??

Just coz he is best available and adds some cr@p that apparently the other dwarfs we have don't.

I don't want to hear "best available" this year, use every pick we choose to on young or rehashed KPS.

If they fail they fail we do not need anymore smalls unless we are building a bloody army of Ewoks to fight the Empire!!

I was thinking this too. It is a bit of a nuisance, but I'd still rather 20 and 21 if Dal rates that higher. We could still trade out our next 2 first rounders for O'meara and trade in an extra first rounder at some point in the next three years.

You mean short player number 1 and short player number 2? Quick, trade them both and our first for Vickery before Richmond measures their height!

Yep, I was hoping a lot of that was the old coach, you could add in Dawes/Bate too. Luckily other teams seem to overrate their players and saved us from ourselves.

I'm scared about who it could be next year.
