Hypothetically if we were to rookie a mature ruckman, who would we consider?

Redden Warnock & Gorringe are all available as DFAs but none of them excite me very much

Don't worry about seeing a doctor Mofra for a lack of excitement, those
three are seriously bland and unexciting it's not you it's them.:(

Redden would be the only one that I would even consider. Warnock is broken down and Gorringe is the perfect specimen in every way except he doesn't know how to play the goddamn game.

3 best player in no particular order in 2003 draft performance are Mundy,Cooney,Farren Ray!
Please. Ray ain't even top 10. He is the beneficiary of one of the overall lowest talent eras in modern AFL, thanks to GC and GWS (and all the priority picks to talent sinks like Melbourne) diluting the talent pool to garbage. If it wasn't for this he would of been forced to retire 5 years ago.

As bad as 2003 was, I would rank Cooney, Mundy, Heath Shaw, Rischitelli, Fisher, Walker, Stanton, Beau Waters, Carrazzo, Ben Hudson and even Duffiled and Chaplin all ahead of Ray.
Ray is barely even above the likes of Adcock, Jackson, Davey, Dawson and Foley in that draft - Just role playing depth.

How did his name even get brought up in here? He is the absolute last position we need any depth in. Here's a tip, if the player is under 190cm, don't even mention them. We are absolutely stacked with smalls, and our salary cap is tight.

What happened to Gorringe? His potential was ridiculous. Could Bevo and Kingy fix him up? The kid's still fairly young. Gotta remember the GC eviroment was toxic. Their coaching and infrastructure is pathetic and you had idiots like these guys around:

The Golf'nCoke Boys.

Gorringe ain't the biggest bloke going around but is the definition of a mobile ruckman, he was even been talked up as possibly playing as a midfielder earlier in his career. He's also had a terrible run with injuries so he hasn't had a good run at it to prove himself.

Moller is probably worth a look. Maybe Grimley as a ruck forward? Thought a few on here were keen to trade for him last year.

Like I said, he just doesn't look like he knows how to play the damn game. If we were to back ourselves in to take advantage of his physical attributes then I'll accept it but I certainly wouldn't take a punt on him.

As far Grimely being in the Afl system since drafted I 2009 .I would be looking at Ais Close from Collingwood Vfl height is 199 cm is 23 year . I would also consider Sam Collins a tall defender from Box Hill Hawks is 21 year both these mention are good candidates for rookie draft.

Just having a think about Brisbane's KPF situation. So they got Walker and they are 99% chance of getting Schache. I also think that whilst their stocks are very young they aren't as bad as what people make them out, particularly with a 2nd or 3rd tall in Walker and a top 2 pick in Schache they now look pretty good. In addition to McStay who was their number one KPF they also have Freeman and Close (both of whom I don't think are your number 1 KPF types) but both of whom could be dangerous as that 2nd tall forward.

In future trade periods if we can't get someone like McStay (who would be perfect for us), I'd certainly be enquiring about the other 2. They can't all fit in there.

He's 200cm which is big enough, giving up a few kgs though.

I'm wondering where we will find a Stefan Martin type from - Martin was horrible at Melbourne and only really started hitting his straps from 26-27 onwards.

Hahahaha I just wanted to slip him into the conversation.

But really it was to justify that one of the other Brisbane talls could be prised loose in seasons to come

Actually we are going to trade Walker to the dogs come next season and he will win 4 colemans ;)

I have been thinking similar things about Brisbanes KPP stocks being greater than can play in the one team. GWS in similar situation but I think we are more likely to get someone from Brisbane. McStay being the obvious candidate.

LOL- Actually with Merrett almost cooked and Jackson Paine being
put on the rookie list (which is never a good sign) it will be interesting
with all the player retention issues they have had recently. With Josh
Schache and Eric Hipwood coming in most likely it certainly could get
a little squeezy at Brisbane.

It would be good if it was Michael Hartley , but i am not sure if being on
Collingwood's rookie list 2012 and 2013 allows you to pick him up in 2015.
It would effectively mean Hartley at pick 51 which would be about right.
I would have thought playing in the VFL cancels out the DFA part?
