Would Connors have hinted to the club how strong they're looking or is it speculative on the club's behalf to be confident? I have no idea how agents' process with clubs work.
It's interesting the quietness of some journos in the topic. Stevo has obviously chatted with Connors regarding Crameri but hasn't mentioned anything about Hurley. But more importantly a few weeks ago Barrett went very quiet on the whole Boyd/Bevo fettish he had going almost every week for a while there. I'm clearly drawing a long now here and have no idea what's going on but found the silence from those two interesting

Don't know, but conversations would be had all the time and confidence is gained from those conversations.so let's, for the purpose of the topic, say yes, you're right.

very pessimistic i know but we kinda can't win with clay. the kid's an absolute gun so if we trade him we lose a freak young competitor but he's also a huge injury risk.

he's a risk i'd take though, keep the man.

Would seriously hate to lose Clay. Has shown more in his return from 3 recos than Stevens and Jong and i like stevens and want him to stay but i would trade him ahead of Smith. If Smith can stay fit and get a couple pre-seasons into him he will be a machine.

Would people be happy to do this years second and next years first for Hurley?
YES!!!!!!!!!

Absolute ideal scenario if we are loading up for next year Geelong style

And we will still have a pick in the low teens for a quality kid this year among a few much needed recruits

The "if player X decides to leave his club, we're interested" thing is the biggest load of bollocks in football.

Players don't blindly decide to leave their club, and then start the process of looking at new teams. They meet with their club, and other clubs, take offers from interested parties, and decide where they want to play.

And I think a first and second is a bit light for Hurley. He's worth a top 6-8 pick. Could we get our hands on one??

What does our first and second equal points wise compared to just the Suns first?

No way would I want Smith dropped. Would rather Koby or jong go

Love Smiths pressure and aggression, we need it
I agree that his pressure and agression are awesome, but his skills (particularly kicking) are poor.

Take the emotion out of it, in a season with the development of webb and dale, smith will struggle to get a game.

Smith has better footskills than Koby Stevens...Also once he gets his tank back to normal he has the potential to be a super inside mid.

Hm a pre-season for Clay Smith and he will come along fine. He's had a tough schedule over the last few years :p

Smith could find a place in top 22
