I just feel that none of our players would be keen to go.
Not that I want Clay to go but if EFC offer him a three or four deal and we only offer a one or two year deal on less money, it's almost a no brainer for a bloke with Clay's injury history.

The "if player X decides to leave his club, we're interested" thing is the biggest load of bollocks in football.

Players don't blindly decide to leave their club, and then start the process of looking at new teams. They meet with their club, and other clubs, take offers from interested parties, and decide where they want to play.

And I think a first and second is a bit light for Hurley. He's worth a top 6-8 pick. Could we get our hands on one??
Deal occurred. Tiges need a ruck and their p5/6 is too much for Prestia.

Trade Campbell and our first to them for P5/6?

P5/6 by itself looking at Carlisle deal would nearly be enough by itself you'd think.

So Essendon wanted Clay Smith, and still do, plus a second for Hurley. can get the job done?
Sorry mate I think our taking or your a$$

No one wanted Clay he has had 3 knees op and no one had a clue how or if he was going to make it back. He is still a massive gamble.

Saying that I love the kid and don't want him gone but to intimate any teams have been very keen on him is simply bullsh!t

Seriously **** Essendon.
Starting price would be 2nd rounder and a player or straight 1st.
The guy has been out of football for 12 months and has only had one star level year.

Don't give them an inch.

I'm the biggest Jong fan and defender on this board and even I'd rather keep Smith over Jong if it came to one or the other.

Jong probably won't want to play for Essendon, Smith might however.
Jong isn't going to have a choice his options are running out.

Him playing more games have shown other teams his deficiencies rather than his apparent strengths.

May be sauce of the end of a trade but I can now see him on no AFL list next year now

Remember he is still under contract next yet so will be forcing himself out.

Not sure the AFL will let them play hard ball on this one or it could end up in court but he is worth more than asking ke first rounder IMO. First rounder and a player and later pick

I am staggered that so many of the banned Essendon players have committed to the club next year and the whispers are the rest might too. How on earth they could love a club that injected them with god knows what and publicly refuses to tell them what it was astounds me. As a club Essendon has no ethics or conscience and doesn't seem to have learned a thing. One of the players has even taken them to court to find out what he was injected with. Why won't Essendon tell him? How the club can feel no obligation to tell their own what went on gives you a good insight into the clubs morals. And the players support them! In my view the players have been punished too much and the club not enough. Give it a few years and , God forbid, the players start pumping out babies with two heads, see how loyal to the club they feel then. (End of hyperbolic rant)

That's all good and well but virtually nobody from that period of time is still there now.
It's not as if they're returning to Dank being their sports scientist or Hird as their coach when they return.

Because the players are no angels either. Was their fault at the end of the day too. They just like playing the victim card.

You telling me that 32 players had no idea or even suspicious in what was in those virals?

Ssssh. I know there's a fair bit of Jong hate there, but haven't you heard of the expression 'fatten the pig for market'?

So, Jong is a star, he could easily be the next Patrick Cripps/Dangerfield/Judd etc.;)

Mate if you stuff two slices of bread with dung it's still a sh!t sandwich no matter what label you put on it, it smells and taste like sh!t and no one is stupid enough to buy it (well maybe Richmond).

And if Jong isn't the stereo typical Tiger player I haven't seen one better. Everything about him suits them and the way the play and the way they go about it for 20 years.

They actually dont know what they were injected with. Thats the problem

Bombers tell these guys "we've told you all that we know" abd "we'll look after you" and somehow it creates trust between these poor buggers and essendon.

One guy actually knows and he'll say nothing.

Its the ones that say "ignorance is no excuse" are the ones that will leave.

All those guys should have left.

I agree that his pressure and agression are awesome, but his skills (particularly kicking) are poor.

Take the emotion out of it, in a season with the development of webb and dale, smith will struggle to get a game.
Not sure what they did in his recos but since his return his kicking has been absolutely A-grade IMO.

And re: Webb/Dale... yeah nah.
