My first response to the Jimmy idea was **** no, but after thinking about it I think he would slot straight into Wallis' mid/fwd spot for a year. He's averaging over 3 clearances this year, he's good overhead and a neat disposal and shot for goal. Would certainly help us more in a flag tilt than another fourth round pick.

Though unlikely, having bartel brings leadership and experience to a young team.
Like how nba teams get veterans not to become the key player but to educate the players and assist their development

Get him and sit him at Footscray if the kids end up better than him. Who cares if he doesn't want to play vfl, if you are best 22 you play, if not, deal with it

No to Bartel.

There comes a time where our average games creeps up to a point where more players can take an on field leadership role.
Woody can lead the backline, as much as Matty Boyd is important. Moz will still be playing games there next year too.
Bonti's in the middle and rests forward and Macrae leads by example. Libba knows what he's doing too and the boys look up to him.
Roughy was a VC for us and bleeds red white and blue.

Was spewing last year when Brisbane pipped us to drafting keypo-prospect Sam Skinner and we had to settle for a flanker - some kid called Bailey Williams.

Just noticed poor Skinner has re-done the same ACL for Brisbane that he was recovering from when he was drafted. Could be a long road for that kid.

There's been some talk here regarding Deledio in a Shaun Burgoyne type trade, now this has some merit.

With any trade, FA, draftee there is going to be risk, some greater than others and Lids is no exception.

Now not knowing our cap situation and other trade options (Jong Campbell honey ect) and what Jmac has planned for them, IMO I think we should be stock piling picks to use as trade up options with GWS and GC.

Getting Deledio would be great, if we tick off everything first, fitness and all that. With murphy Boyd and Morris all maybe finishing at the end of next Lids would help bridge that gap for a year or two.

Like Burgoyne I would be looking at playing him on a HBF with the freedom to move into the middle when needed, this would allow JJ suckling and Murphy to Move up to a Wing/HFF helping with better kicking inside F50.

Hurley is our number 1 priority to get to the club, if all checks out well with Deledio we should be trying everything we can to land both of them at the club in 2017.

Burgoyne was 26/27 when he went to Hawthorn. Deledio is 29.

I wouldn't mind getting him, but I wouldn't be that excited about it either.

If we were looking to do a trade for a Deledio style player I'd rather go for WHE.
He's a buy low opportunity, possibly around the same value or cheaper, with much more football in him.

I still think he would be a gun in our team.

No thanks, Lids is cooked. We'd be paying yearling prices for a pot of glue.

What's happened to WHE this year? Is he off contract?

As a standard rule don't trade in Richmond players, you will be better off

As for Deledio he is cooked

Not really sure. I think he's had some continuity issues - he's currently out injured.
I've seen some speculation that he might be leaving GWS, so sometimes that can affect on field form.

Pan might know more, I think he suggested that his little bird suggested that we may have suggested something to Will...

I'd be interested in WHE at the right price - like you say he should be a buy low opportunity atm.

Burgoyne was cooked when he signed for Hawthorn, too. Was a huge risk taking him on. Very interested in Deledio.

WHE sucks. Seductive blend of attributes but don't think he'll ever live up to them. Let Bailey Dale simmer away, and look elsewhere for a prospect.

Agree re lids. If his body checked out ok and we felt he really had the desire to push on with his footy, I'd be into him. He is everything we lack. Absolute cream, with his speed and ball use.

But what would you be willing to give up for him Ozil?
