Brisbane had Merrett when Brown went down.

The difference with these teams (apart from Melbourne) was that they had good quality in the forward line even without the big forward, which is what we haven't had much of during the past couple of years. We've built this up with Grant showing something, Dahlhaus, Crameri, Campbell showing more, Hunter, Stringer etc.
Yes this is true. We can expect a lot more variety and options of attack in the forward line from next season on which helps Jones. If he is also able to improve his output and conversion rate at the same time as extra attacking options are added then it's all good. But he needs to show that improved output and conversion and I'm sure he's aware of that.

Im one of the few who thinks Jones will make it. I think it's his tank holding him back atm. In first quarters of games his shown to be very hard to match up on and has improved his kicking for goal alot. With an improved tank and an extended out put in games we will be better for it. Stick with him i say.
He is 22/23 and is our #1 forward at the moment. Will start standing out once Campbell/another key forward draftee (2014 draft hopefully) steps up.

I don't agree with this Jones lacks forward instinct theory. To me what he lacks his consistency and support. Go back and watch his game against Richmond and Geelong this year, he was playing on good defenders and he dominated them, looked every bit of a natural forward. But his issue is his best and worst and too far apart but he is a 22 yr old forward trying to hold down a forward line. You put Jones along side Cloke in the Pies line up or Tippett at Sydney and he would have kicked 30-40 goals this year. Jones will come good, one of our most important players for the future. Will prove a lot of people wrong, a lot like Minson who was bagged a lot in his early days.

No, he get's marked down because he had the most opportunities of any forward at the club and didn't deliver enough on those opportunities. Gia gave him admirable support in terms of providing an alternate forward threat and was much more effective at scoring.
Really?

Which key position defenders played on Gia this year?

Mainly centres on being able to provide a leading target in the forward line. I think that Jones has more misses than successes on this, thus doesn't meet a pass mark over last 2 years.

I think Jones doesn't get a game at most other clubs except Gold Coast.

Strongly disagree, selling him way short

He would get a game at Brisbane, Carlton, Fremantle, St Kilda easily. I would also argue Richmond would be better off with him than Vickery but thats debatable and also I think he would have got games at Geelong when Pods form dropped off and Hawkins went down injured. He has shown more than Butcher at Port who got games so you can add them too. Once again he would shine with a Pavlich, Riewoldt and even Jonathan Brown a long side him.

Hell, I'd even say Adelaide, Port & Collingwood would probably consider him as a 2nd forward.
It would be very interesting to see how he would perform in that 2nd forward role.

Merret kicked 14 goals this season. I wouldn't consider him a better forward than Jones.
Brown also played 15 goals this season, and Merrett played down back a bit. I reckon he's on par with Jones, but his experience and bigger body helps him out a bit more as well.

Exactly if he was on the Pies he'd there second forward and they wouldn't have to play one of there best defenders in Reid forward and Lynch. I agree he'd get games at Port and Adelaide too.

Also with Jones, I think he isn't being played in his best positon. He plays his best went he is close to goal, but when you play a ruck man as a forward (Campbell/Cordy) you have to plonk them at FF meaning Jones has to play CHF because the other tall forwsrd can't.

The level of support for Jones is admirable, but misplaced in my opinion. I think he is a spud and is not going to become a good footballer.

But at least he's our home grown spud. I am heartily sick of recruiting spud forwards from other clubs.

I firmly believe that our ball movement was the worst in the competition for much of the year last year. We moved it slowly, laterally, and with a complete lack of system and skill for the most part. And jones had the best defender and ruckman sitting on him regularly. Tough tough gig for a young key forward.

Jones is a spud.
Higgins is a spud.
Williams is fragile and should be delisted.
Tutt is soft and should be delisted.
Peace is crap and will never make it.
Howard is horrible.
Boyd can't kick and should retire.

Have I missed anyone? Compare our horrible supporters too the likes of Essendon. Can't we find a nice balance in between hating the club and falsely worshipping it?

(Oh, and those aren't my opinions rather seemingly the collective opinions of WB fans.)

Until they leave. And once they leave they're a gun, how could we afford to lose them?

We're the opposite of Essendon :D
