Was just about to say the same. Whats the point in giving up so much for Patton/Carlisle when we have gun key position players in the top 5 of this draft? We should be crying out for a Goddard rather than a Patton.
I think it is largely about our stage of development. We have lots of kids just starting to hit their straps now and/or will be in the next 2-3 years. If we can get a KPF that is already a few years in (e.g. Patton) then we could concievably make a serious push in 2-3 years, with a big group of 50 to 150 game players and stars like Griff still around.

Yeah I don't quite understand why everyone wants to ship off JJ for nothing. He hasn't been fantastic this year but I don think he's been that bad in most games, and has been killing the VFL when he's been there. Maybe a disappointing year so far but he showed a ******* ton last year and we need him up and going. Not gone for pick 65!

Everyone keeps forgetting he did have a season ending injury last year and it takes a while to re-gain form from something like that
physically and mentally.

I'd say Rosa is too old if he was 27/28 in 2012 and we were going for him then, but he probably fits the age profile nicely with Roughie, Wood, Jones and Grant starting to push up into that middle bracket.

Speed is great, but if you run fast and give it back to the opposition all the time, you're not an asset. JJ has been rubbish this year and Tutt makes awful, awful decisions.
I think you are being excessively harsh on Tutty. He has improved out of sight this season, particularly in regard to his competitiveness at the contest.
There are still plenty of improvements to make, but he is progressing ok from where he was a couple of seasons back.

I also agree with D ftw, and Fronk, while JJ has had a pretty ordinary season this year so far, he has not had much continuity in his football either, not to mention uncertainty about his future. He has the pace we need so desperately, so I am prepared to be patient with him also.

If you don't have some pace in your 22 you will finish up left on the roadside like something deposited by a passing animal.

Keep jj unless it's in exchange for something very good. His has what we need and can do it at this level. Patience with him.
Would you say our second pick (22-24) and JJ for Gold Coast's second pick (compensation pick - Geelong, 12-15) would be a good deal?

I don't know the draft well enough sorry pogba. I have no idea how sharp the drop off in talent is from pick 13 to pick 24 for example. Gut feel is that I wouldn't touch it though to be honest. He's a good talent.

Reckon the Dogs would have a sniff at Frawley if he doesn't sign with Melbourne? Or would he cost too much?
Has shown he can definitely play permanent forward and is only 25. I would also say that having a player like him could speed the sides development up a fair bit.

He wants flags mate he'll go to Hawthorn or somewhere along those lines if he does leave Melbourne.

I just think he isn't seeing eye to eye with the coach. He has value, wonder what we could trade him for with Essendon.

In a perfect world he gets his shit together and becomes a best 22 players for us.

Tutt kicked goals with his first 3 kicks. It's fair to say his career has been on a slippery slope since then.

No. He wants $800K. If we're paying $800K, we want Buddy or better.

JJ cannot get a game in the 15th ranked side at the moment. I've been guilty of it too, but to assume he has market value is probably stretching it a bit. Sides will go "If he can't get a game at the Dogs, why would we want him?"

He's not the sort of person we need. We need the best available 20-24yo KP players out there.
I wasn't saying that I want him. I don't. I was only saying that it isn't true he is asking for $800K.

Would rather us go for someone this year that would cost us a second round pick or lesser to be honest unless it was someone like Carlise or Patton on the table. Or if we can grab someone like Plowman with another player from GWS and get their pick 20.
