Declan Hamilton has impressed me throughout the VFL final series. Was quite pessimistic about his development but he seems like he got his confidence up and then started being really influential. Makes a mistake here and there but now I'm not surprised at all the he re-signed with us.
I think something not taken into account in a lot of the discussion on here is the clubs assessment of where we are at, where our weaknesses may be and what moves we want to make in the offseason. I know it's great for us to discuss and debate, but for example:

If the club knows Jong and Stevens are moving on, that Honey and/or Hrovat are going to attract interest - and that the upcoming draft has good inside mids - it's then logical to extend the contract of a younger, highly skilled guy that may take a little longer. The exits can be replaced at the draft and if Hamilton suddenly flourishes, we have a real point of difference coming through the ranks.

We all know that IM's can make an immediate impact if they are the bigger bodied types - so this strategy is actually good list management. It may be that we are simply pushing back making the call on some talented kids to give them every opportunity to succeed/or to develop to the point they may get something back at the trade table as well.

Really? Ugh.

I was 50/50 before finals, now I'm in the definite no camp.
There is no doubt he is talented, quick and dangerous around goals. As long as he is (relatively) cheap and subject to the same non-negotiables as everyone else, Im OK with it. Like Cloke and Suckling, could end up being 'quality' depth.

There is also some possibility that in the environment of our team, he works hard on his deficiencies and becomes a real top-liner of the sort that we havent had for quite a while - the forward line excitement machine that scares opposition players and supporters whenever he is in the vicinity of the ball. That would be nice. Its fun having Bamblett / Dalhaus types in the forward line.

EDIT: having said that, I went to the cats board and he has, according to some guy there, a history of knee tendonitis. That does give me pause.

Which player of ours do you guys think would look the best if they were dressed up like a girl with makeup and everything
As I love the players so much I find myself pondering this question often. For me it would probably be Bailey Dale at this stage. Jack Redpath would probably be not so hot.

The problem most of us have is he won't come cheap - he'll cost our pick 18 and probably $500k+ pa.
For a guy who has performed in finals I'd jump at it.
Motlop this finals series has basically been Josh Hill with less overhead ability.

I'd much rather reach for Ben Long than trade a first rounder and lose cap space and the ability to trade a first rounder for the next two years for Motlop.

Going off an interview with Moyd, sounds like a good chance to retire if we win the flag but will otherwise go around again. The game hasn't passed him but hopefully no matter what happens he can run around with Bob again next season
Hope he retires then ;)

What gives me pause is he seemingly rocked up to pre-season completely out of shape as observed by multiple parties. Doesn't matter what club you play for, what your strengths and weaknesses are as a footballer, or what sort of person you are, if you're a professional athlete and paid top dollar to do so, you have to take your job a bit more seriously than he has.

I honestly doubt whether he gives a stuff about geelong whatsoever. That sort of lazy attitude doesn't just necessarily snap out when a player changes to a different coach or a different side.

Wondering if this is anything to do with the Deledio rumour?
