The poor guys who have to write this stuff, needed to come up with so many different ways to say "tumbleweeds". How many more days does this drag on for?

Here is a summary of what your club did (and didn't) on the first day of player trading for 2016.

ADELAIDE: Started the process to bring Bryce Gibbs to the club from Carlton.

BRISBANE LIONS: Lots of discussions about no.2 pick, Tom Rockliff and Pearce Hanley. Rockliff will probably stay, Hanley will likely leave.

CARLTON: Blindsided a bit by the Gibbs news but he is under contract, so the Blues hold the aces. Zach Tuohy declared he wants to move to Geelong.

COLLINGWOOD: Likely to get Daniel Wells. Kicking the tyres around Rockliff.

ESSENDON: Not much happening yet.

FREMANTLE: Inching closer to securing Cam McCarthy from GWS. In talks for Hawthorn's Bradley Hill. No major update on Hayden Ballantyne, Michael Barlow and Chris Mayne, although they want Ballantyne to stay.

GEELONG: Flagged interest in Brett Deledio. Reportedly after Carlton's Zach Tuohy. Daniel Menzel signed for another season.

GOLD COAST: After a topline Hawk in exchange for Jaeger O'Meara.

GWS: Inching closer to releasing Cam McCarthy to Fremnantle. But imagine the deal had they done it 12 months prior.

HAWTHORN: Secured Ty Vickery, learned officially that Tom Mitchell wants to come and kicked off the Jaeger O'Meara talks.

MELBOURNE: Not much happened.

NORTH MELBOURNE: Lost Daniel Wells, almost certainly to Collingwood and missed out on Carlton's Zac Tuohy who wants to join Geelong.

PORT ADELAIDE: Still open to offers for Hamish Hartlett.

RICHMOND: Chose not to keep Hawthorn-bound Ty Vickery. Will Brett Deledio follow him out the door?

ST KILDA: No wheeling and dealing on day one.

SYDNEY SWANS: Midfielder Tom Mitchell wants a trade to Hawthorn.

WESTERN BULLDOGS: Not much happening at the moment.

WEST COAST: No concrete developments just yet.

gah, i still just can't stomach this Cloke stuff. Would rather see a young player take his spot. I've tried to watch highlights and it's all just him taking marks with that glove he used to cheat with. Hope i'm wrong but really don't want his guy

I'm hoping he plays the Cordy role but doesn't get outmarked as much. Not necessarily hoping he marks it inside 50 though...he is cheap that is the main positive I guess.

yeh, but he's so short term. I mean, we're the premiers. If it's a spot we're worried about let's work towards a long term solution. Not this bloke who can't kick, can only mark with a glove is one of those guys that isn't part of the system- he is the system. Just can't get my head around it

He's bloody cheap though. It's not as if we are going to draft a top line key power forward with the
Pick we give up for Cloke. And if we do find a good KPF in the draft (don't see us trading one in) then when he's ready to overtake Cloke then we can pull the trigger.

What is there to lose?

Ah it s happening - can't say I'm excited. I'm hoping Boyd moves fwd and Campbell and Rough share ruck with Travis in the twos. With no Redpath we need the cover. It will be weird watching a fwd play for us and almost hoping he doesn't mark it...

For us I think no news is good news. Need to keep this group together while maybe even moving up in the draft order.

Yeah we're the premiers but as Bev has said, we didn't finish first and we certainly didn't piss it in. Make no mistake, what we achieved was literally 1% on the scale of probability, we won't just do it again without making any changes. Teams like Hawthorn, Geelong and GWS are aggressively trying to improve. Cloke helps us get better in an area where we're deficient.

my best case scenario is that. Cloke playing in the twos with what you've just said. simply cover for Redpath. I almost want the club to come out and say that's what we wanna do haha

I'll be pissed off if we don't go into the draft with semi-decent picks. Would much rather us look at 18-year-olds than Dear or Brand. I'm totally fine with getting Cloke for pick 72/73 (whichever one we have now), but anything more would be overs. If we trade out Hrovat and Stevens and maybe Honeychurch, we should be going into the draft with 18, a packaged 2nd rounder, 36, a third rounder and some late fourths. That'll get us by with a decent hand. Best not to give away good draft picks for the sole purpose of being active around trade period.

Yeah but what's the recovery period before they can start running again? If he can still do the bulk of the preseason running work then there are no dramas IMO.
Might he able to run a few months in but there is still many things he can't do like most drills I'd imagine and strength training.

Hello Premiers,

Sorry to intrude, just curious as to what you think Honeychurch would be worth?

*Apologies if it's been asked, did check with the search function but couldn't find a clear cut answer. :)
3rd rounder. I think he's worth a 2nd personally, like Hrovat but doubt we'd get anywhere near that. Honey is under contract I believe so we could probably squeeze a little more. Hrovat is out of contract so we'll just have to hope for a tug of war there.

I'd want to upgrade our second to the Vickery compo but I expect we'd settle for your third. Apparently he wants to stay though. Have you heard anything or just interested?
