I just can't see the point of using a first rounder on a bloke who might give you 12 months service at a maximum. Not when there's a kid in the draft who could give you 200 games.

Send Lids to the Pies - they'll offer him a 5 year deal worth squillions. Or, North will take him - they need a couple of old blokes now.

Why is Deledio being discussed as a possible target for the Bulldogs. He has nominated Geelong as his preferred destination and the Cats are formulating plans to secure him.
Sorry for discussing something different. Let's all just keep talking about Hamling and Cloke.

B: Biggs - Adams - Boyd
HB: Wood - Morris - JJ
C: Macrae - Bontempelli - Hunter
HF: Crameri - Cloke - Stringer
F: Deledio - Boyd - Dickson
R: Roughead - Liberatore - Dahlhaus

Murph, Suckling, Daniel, Picken, Dunkley, Smith, McLean, Roberts, Webb, Cordy, Williams, Smith.

That's just a very quick team. I've bolded players who I think can genuinely play their best footy in multiple positions. I think that (along with kicking inside 50) is Deledio's big strength, I also think that's our biggest strength as a team.
Scrag disagrees with this I'm sure.

Biggs can play all over the ground

While I don't agree with the 12 months maximum call, he's hardly your typical 30 year old, he's got some chronic injuries that are not going to get much better post 30.
Maybe not 12 months but the Dogs play a lot differently to the Tigers.

Lids won't get 30 possessions at the Dogs by getting cheapies across half back. When it's his time to go, he will have to put his (very prone to injury) body on the line. No ifs or buts.

No way he makes it through that GF game a couple of weeks ago.

I'd take Motlop - for a 4th rounder on base salary.
A late 1st rounder and $600k pa is lunacy. That's Eddie Betts money!
2016 turned Motlop from an enigmatic and sometimes mercurial footballer to a bag of potato chips.

2016 turned an already great footballer in Eddy Betts into an AA and on track to be one of the very best small forwards going around.

Big no for Deludio. Some of the trades getting done seem desperate and some are being well overpaid. Out biggest plus during the season was our depth so player retention has to be our number one goal especially with some of our players being so young. At this point if we bring in experience we probably need to delist Boyd,Morris or Murphy to make way rather than a young player and I obviously see no point in that. Let's not get excited that other teams are trading,we are the hunted now and our list is very strong, our list managers know what they're doing and they're doing an excellent job.

And with that there is no Hamling replacement
we might be alright for a year without him. Cordy in my view is a backman (although what a bonus this finals has been) and will move back there. Then there's Adams and Collins for numbers. We seem to survive with just the one key back a lot of the time too so it's not the end of the world, but i love the extreme depth of having Hammers there too gives us. But there is a draft still to come.

I think Adams is our best kpd prospect we've just gotta make sure this year was a one off injury wise.

Wow in 12 seasons Lids has played less than 18 games once - and in your book he is injury prone?

Been one of the most durable players in the AFL IMO.

Again with the rider that his Achilles is ok.

And Lids won AA in 2015 averaging 22 silky possessions not thirty. Cheap out the back chip scabs tend not to win multiple AAs...

Just imo.

You're missing one important fact. He used to be durable. He had a horror run in 2014 and 2016.

There's no doubt that Deledio would be a welcome addition to any team but I don't get why McLean's name has to come up as some type of comparative. Deledio these days is a creative half-back or part time mid, both of which we have loads of. McLean plays an entirely different role and we don't have many in that category. I hope that it is not a suggestion from you or Pogba that we should entertain a trade for Deledio using McLean. If so, I would not have a bar of it.
Haven't seen anyone suggest trading Mclean. It's just that Lids has to take someones spot on the field

Hawthorn; out Mitchell, in Vickery!!

Imagine the dogs trading out Murphy for Vickery.
It's out S.Mitchell, in T.Mitchell

Not so bad depending on which pair of glasses you wear.

Vickery was a side deal. They needed a tall something chronic.
