Ill be honest, he's a player I haven't really seen. I just remember him being quite aggressive on field.
Can't point you at any footage, but in 2014 he played 16 games and took 17 marks. A 6'7" tree would catch more footballs in a season if you planted it in the centre square.

Longer was a gun junior. Hasn't done much since but he has a lot of injuries and big blokes take time. I have no opinion either way on him. Was a very mobile ruck in the tac cup.

Did make a fair dick of himself when he pointed to the scoreboard against Freo in a season where they won sweet FA.

Longer was in the top ten tap ruckmen in the league last year when he was in the team and is still only 23 now so would definitely be worth a look as someone who is out of favour. Interesting that he recently signed a new contract though.

Mick warner on the superfooty pod said we're into a Richmond half back and that might be why we haven't re-signed Boyd yet. And Warner is close to Richmond.

Houli just re-signed. Is Ellis off contract?
Don't think that's why we haven't signed Boyd. He likes to sign in September. Massive upset if he retires, massive tears if they delist him

This is what I understand with my "sources"

Our desire for a KPD isn't as strong as people on this board, think, largely because we're bullish about Collins contributing next year, still see Cordy as a KPD, and obviously rate Roberts higher than many on this board do. Hamling's good recent form helps as well. Hurley was targeted moreso as an obtainable AA-quality player as opposed to filling a need for a KPD.

Honeychurch is going to get traded if he's happy to leave despite having a year left on his contract, there's a surprisingly high amount of interest for him from other clubs and we obviously hardly have a spot for him in our best 22 with everyone injured.

The only thing stopping Cloke trade from happening is the extent of how much Collingwood pay his salary. We're not willing to pay anything more than what we would otherwise for a DFA or similar (so say 150k p/y) so Pies will have to pay the 300k or whatever for the rest of his contract next year. We might pivot around that by giving the Pies slightly overs in the trade (a higher pick, or not as much in return if something like Jong does leave). I'd say it's 70/30 that Cloke is in Dogs colours next year (not that I want him but that's what I've heard).

Jong's likely to stay if we change up our negotiations and offer him a 3rd year, which we might do after re-assessing his form in recent weeks, but he's about 30/70 to stay/leave. Collingwood most likely but there's a few others interested.

Whether or not Campbell stays is a matter of whether we get the other fringe ruckmen we're targeting - Nankervis etc. The club sees Roughy/Boyd as the ruck duo for next year onwards at least, and it's not to say that they don't rate Campbell, it's just they think the difference in another fringe ruck for backup between Campbell/Nankervis is smaller than the difference in draft picks/salary cap room. Campbell is considered good backup who can play forward or ruck but unlikely to force his way back into the team.

Stevens is outta here. Demanding obscene amount of money that some team who strikes out with other targets might just suck it up and offer him. We'll trade him cheaply.

Hrovat we've got a cheapish offer on the table, it's just a matter of whether he wants to stay and force his way into the team or earn a bit more game time and money elsewhere. I reckon he'll stay.

Hamling will stay.

Not sure on Boyd.
Only thing that worry me here are that Stevens will go for cheap (thought we had a chance at a decent pick for him) and that Campbell is in danger. Otherwise I'm ok with the rest.

I don't expect this to be popular, but I really hope we're into Daniel Wells. FA so he doesn't cost anything trade wise. 30 years old and has injury problems in the past but I think his skills are something we definitely lack. What's the read on him?

I don't mean to be disrespectful of anybody posting tidbits of trade rumours, but so much of what is posted here from "sources" often sounds awfully like a regurgitated compendium of other posts or what can gleaned from the wider media. Its always interesting how follow on posts and replies often shift ground to fit the latest narrative whenever they appear. We'll see how they shake out.

He is actually a really shit kick at goal. So we'd be adding another non goal kicking mid that is injury prone - and one who can't play through injury. Boomer more durable, just as a good a user and a goal kicker

i have a fun idea. lets sign Boomer and NOT play him. The ultimate troll move

But more seriously Longer is worth a look and would be fairly cheap. Need a ruck that is capable of playing AFL even if he is behind Roughy/Campbell. Nothing less than a second rounder for Stevens, if you picked him up in the second round you would be pretty happy.

Wells is one of the best kicks inside 50 in the comp. I love Hunter and Macrae more than most but Wells kicking inside 50 instead of them makes our forward line look so much more dangerous than it is now.

I think the positives outweigh the negatives. Injuries being the main negative. Him and Boom would play different roles.

Longer would probably fit pretty good alongside Rough and Boyd. He's mobile and can play long minutes in the ruck. Rough can chop him out, take marks around the ground and cover down back. Boyd forward.

Would only be interested if TC wants to leave though, should definitely be trying to keep him. Still think he will be a very good ruckman (and he's one of my favourites :(). I'd only be targeting a big upgrade on him or cheap, young depth to be next in line behind him.

Agree, Wells only has skills on one side of his body and gets him into trouble. JJ would be better playing his role.
